dark it might be, but not dull surely. in any case its a matter of preference i guess. me for example i like dark tone, and turn the cut switch on the ac15 almost to 3/4.

It (ring mod)effected my bypassed tone. that is redick. Pedals should not do that period. let alone a pedal that is so costly. yes the sounds they make are awesome. but it is unforgivable to mess with bypassed tone imo.

well, pedals work the way they work and its up to you to use them or not. moogs are not like a drive pedal where wet and dry must be two seperate things. for moogs sound IS supposed to go through the circuit all the time. that said i dont know to what extent your signal was affected and if there was any defect but with all moogs i've seen the signal isnt affected drastically to the point of being unusable.

It's cool to have a different opinion on pedals, but don't try and school me on pedals matey. I will keep it simple. when pedal is off I want the sound to be as close to as if I had no pedals in-between me and my amp. when on it can do what the fuck it wants. the moogs change the bypassed sound. not cool.

all i'm saying is that what you don't like its exactly what i like about them. its not right or wrong, its just how it works with moogs

it goes through the circuit but the actual effect is not on unless you press the footswitch. exactly like the deluxe memory man was back in the time before they made them true bypass. the output knob controlled the output level even when the DMM was off

Seriously. This cannot be defended.

It is SIMPLE circuit design to eliminate this issue and they just don't care enough to do it. At that price, that is a straight insult.

i am not trying to defend and this is my last post on this as it doesnt matter that much
if the moogs were true bypass it wouldnt be (for me at least) a benefit as they actually make the signal better even when the effect is not engaged. that is obviously highly debatable but i think that they do that for a reason.

They do not "do it for a reason", and the "makes your signal better" by degrading it and removing treble content goes against everything I believe as a builder.

When the effect is off you don't monkey with the signal - you buffer it WELL or you true bypass. These are the options. Any reduction in information is unacceptable.

It sounds to me like you are defending a pedal with shoddy bypass, like a child trying to defend himself tripping over by going I MEANT TO TO DO THAT.

if i would have to describe the sound alteration it would something like a smooth compression. didnt notice any treble loss

A friend of mine has the Moog pedals and loves them, however he has them seperated through his line selecter to keep them away from his regular signal when he's not using them.

Actually they were some of the last thigns he worked on, sound great, and have perfectly fine bypass. Expensive, yes. They're really quite a crossover machine, work best together or wiht a synth setup. Imagine trying to find synth modules as versatile for the same price. Not going to happen.

I use it with my synths rather than with my guitar...sounds cool with a drum machine too...

My Murf is waiting for me to put together the Synth Board. I'm actually pretty intersted in getting the ringmod and LPF again too. Partyly becasue I made this expression unit for them and I want to hear it fuck up multiple paramaterrs at once.

C'mon guys, you can't spend as much as a moogerfooger costs and then go "wow, this thing has a shit bypass."
