Put the pics on your desktop, go to http://tinypic.com/ and upload them, you will then see some [IMG] tags, copy and paste that line into your post

No probs. You were using the code for the Email/IM bit - you want to copy the IMG code.

that color looks great. it's pretty damn close to my mustang.

neck looks official. does it look like that the mustang bridge routes were filled? it doesn't in the pics.

at face value, it appears you have a duosonic II body with a mustang neck.

I hate the hardware changes, but I like the colour.

not too sure. i dont think so though. sounds great and neck is a dream. i happy with weather its a real mustang or not. lol the finish looks very professional (i.e. not krylon) and a little darker in person

for what i got i think i got my money's worth. (only $400) much better than 600 up. plus i was gonna do the humbucker switch anyways. so that saved me $100 there. plus the other stuff

I'd say it's a heavily modded '69 Reissue, as that neck looks def. RI to me. About the Body, really not sure. Were there contour bodied Duo Sonic II s?

So as a vintage guitar it maybe would not work out, but as a player why not. Looks worth what you paid.

clarkbar wrote:i bought myself a "hot rodded '71 mustang" off ebay on wednesday. its looks like it was someone's project guitar. non-original color (looks like its some sort of metallic green?) but its a nice finish by what i see in the pics of the auction and im having these ideas of painting a semi-dark red racing stripe.(think it would complement the green) he also put SD hotrails in both pup positions. but what seems like the biggest alteration is that he changed it to a hardtail guitar with a "strat style" bridge. personally i loved the mustang bridge but im curious as to how itll sound when it gets here (tuesday-ish). best part out of all of this was the price (just over $400 with shipping). so for a vintage i think i got a pretty good deal. ill get pics up as soon as it gets here.

this is the link to the auction but idk if itll work

tell me what you all think

now if i could only get the right amp...
Not to be mean, but that mustang doesnt look like a mustang..

Sweet. Looks Ocean Turq.

I think it was a good deal, regardless of what's been done. I like strang throughs.

thnx. i can assure u that at least the neck is a mustang, the body well....i really dont give a crap, it looks the part, plays well, and so far i havent really done anything minus some action fine tunings. for $400 the closest thing i could find was a nice mexi strat or epiphones, so i lucked out

Neck does not look original. Tuners are wrong for any Mustang RI I believe. I think it's a Squier neck with a different decal.

In fact, I think it's just a cyclone which has been Mustang'd up a little bit, that's all.

MYSTERYSTANG!

If that neck is a 71, then it's been refinished cause I can tell you right now that the decal on the headstock is not original.
The Fender logo is in the wrong font for that time. There is no Registered trademark following it or a patent number underneath. The font and spacing in "mustang" is all wrong and the contoured body decal is in the wrong orientation.

Does anybody know which model Squier came with short scale necks, CBS "big headstocks" and heel truss rod access only?

The body contours and thickness does remind me of Cyclones but I don't know of any hardtail Cyclones, Fender or otherwise.

It does look wrong, and the decal is wrong, but all the Fender and Squier Cyclone necks I could Google had truss rod plugs:

My guess is a Warmoth or something.

Also the Cyclone's headstock profile looks a bit like the Jazzmasters'.
no CBS.

This is what a '71 Mustang should look like:
