I remember my first guitar. My Mum bought it for me in christmas '04.
I found it one day when i went looking for prezzies and then in the downstairs closet there it was, a shiny new Encore E1.
I'd play it every til day she came home. Then i would quickly chuck it back in the box and go on about my day.

Totally. If someone wanted me to recomend them a quality first guitar i'd say either a vintage modified or a classic vibe.
yeah, the classic vibe tele is meant to be a really nice guitar

My first guitar was the Telecoustic. a weird guitar to learn on to be sure. Acoustic strings, electric neck.

DanHeron wrote:A MIM Fender as a first guitar?! When I got my first guitar I could only dream of a Fender. A £250 Classic Vibe Squier would've been too much even. I had a standard series squier and it was fine. It didn't sound the best but it played nicely - which I think is the most important thing for a beginner.
in the US you can easily find used MIMs for around $250.

Telecoustics are awesome. Ive always wanted to play them.
My first guitar was christmas '03 when my parents got me a Yamaha f-310 acoustic, which i still have to this day.
First electric was a squier strat. I thought it was awesome, but compared to what i have now, it makes me die inside.

greatest quality for the price, IMO.
They rival or are slightly better than MIM Fenders
Plus, they have a short tele

The agiles I've handled were easily MIM Fender quality. Based on originality I'd say they push past them though.
The SX I played was on par with your average squier.
I'm willing to be pretty much anything off of that site is a worthwhile instrument, for the money or 100's more.

My first was a DeArmond M-65. I'm thinking I'll drop some Dream-180's into it. The nice pearl and nickel ones. mmmmm.
I second anyone who said that the Yamaha Pacificas represent excellent guitars for the money. As for MIM strats, I think I'd much rather play a Classic Vibe Squier rather than an MIM strat, but that's just me.
I'd also advise looking in second hand shops. I don't know what it's like over there, but here you can get an astonishing amount of guitar for your money, provided you don't mind it looking a little eighties.

I like the rondomusic, and am actually getting another guitar from them for xmas.
But if you want a good bang for the buck that can be had locally and off the rack, look into Fernandes Guitars. These are usually better that Squires (CV series excluded) and are cheaper that MIM. My first guitar was a Fernandes with a sustainer.

I agree with all of this.
My first guitar was a Legend Les Paul copy got it for my birthday (March) and had to wait until the following Christmas to get my first amp - before then I plugged into my Dad's HIFI - haha. Before that I just played on my Dad's old acoustic.
