I just sold mine... what I enjoy most about the jagstang is looking at it & that is all... like Mike said, its lifeless.

My main hate was the body size being so small yet so thick, and the lack of arm contour... I like large weighty guitars. The Jaguar fits the bill perfectly !! The JS just seem very toy like especially with that ultra thick poly. Other dislikes, pickguard not following contour of the body, would also rather a straight humbucker, and probably a 3 way toggle instead of the switches.

I like how others have built their own and put their own stamp on it ! Much cooler imo... not sad to see it go, I'll get just as much satisfaction reading the original guitarist review which was the first time I'd ever laid eyes on one. It was like wtf... how, when, why... whaa.... must have !! Nostalgia at its best !!

Yeah sure... it's cut out in a folder a long with about an inch thick of other Nirvana articles (SAD!!) , but its at my parents home.

When I go back for xmas I'll scan it then, and see what other jagstang articles, if any... are in there.

How many times have you seen a live guitar player LEAN on a great design? You know, the average guy busting a Tele or Ibanez. Give them a Encore Strat copy, then see what they do.
I know we are all gearheads but at times our dependency is pathetic.

Well, I think different people react differently to different guitars, I can make a squier sound heaps better than most Gibsons.

Somehow though, the JS just sounded a bit stagnant to me... prob just not rocking hard enough.

The Jag in comparison just seems more open and versatile for my uses. Glad your flying the jagstang flag though !! Would love to try your home made jobbie.

I dunno mate, i bought one coz i couldnt afford/find a Jag and i happen to like a bridge humbucker. A lot of you guys bought one because you liked Nirvana, i was'nt there, im coming from a different angle. I dont see the associations nothing more than lulz and have never had any big expectations of the guitar. It just works for me, although a cap mod improves the bridge pup in some cases.

I reckon a change in bridge pup would help a lot... I compared it with my jag which has a JB in the bridge and it sounds similar but a lot darker.

To be honest though, I gave the jagstang good clean yesterday before selling it and set of newish strings and it did come to life a bit... guitars need TLC and to be played a lot to stay happy IMO.

I reckon the jag trem would bring some open chimeyness to the JS ??

I so can't decide on the Jag-stang. It would have been cool to see how it might have been if Kurt had really gotten a chance to finish it. I don't really think of it as a Nirvana guitar simply because Kurt barely touched it . I love both the Sonic Blue and Fiesta Red. I thought about going the Warmoth route and get the contoured body(maybe out of alder or ash), but a real Jag-stang is cheaper than making one. It might also be cool to do a mustang pickup configuration in the Jag-stang for a cleaner look. The biggest obstacle ,besides money, is that I have never played one. T Many people have told me that you have to play one to know if it's right for you. I recently saw a good conditioned one on CL for $400, so it might not be too big a risk. I can just switch of between my Squier Duo-sonic and my AVRI Jag. I wish I had kept that Squier Vista Jagmaster neck I sold. It could have been a good neck for a Mustang/Jag-stang. The jury is still out for me, but you never know what might pop up.

The Jag-stang is without doubt one of my favourite guitars ever.

I understand what people say about the bridge pickup. It's really thin and trashy sounding. I don't care. I only really use the neck, and the bridge is there if I need it, and the phase option is good fun when I do. I don't usually use bridge pickups at all, and the neck pickup on a Jag-stang is an absolute dream for lead or blues. It sounds like the ultimate Fender neck pickup ought to sound. Jimi Hendrix wishes he had a Jag-stang for the intro to Little Wing. It gets my vote for best guitar sound ever.

The bridge is a Mustang bridge.

The body is like a Mustang, except sexier, I think. It's sexier on account of it being odd looking and pretty feline looking. I hate people who describe guitars as sexy. This is. It's like Jamie Lee Curtis in A Fish Called Wanda. You're going to think it's odd and sexy, or you're wrong.

The neck, though. The neck is the best thing about this guitar. The neck is good enough that it's not worth talking about unless you've spent serious time playing one. I didn't like it at first, but after half an hour or so, I loved it. It's still my favourite neck.

My Jag-stang is probably in the top two of my favourite guitars. It's that, or the Epiphone Emperor Regent.

I love the neck on the Jag-Stang, but not a lot else. Pickups went it, and came out, and it never sounded how I wanted it to. At first it was a labor of love because it was my dream guitar, but then it just got old... I have two and I don't really ever play them.

My parts JS. NoHo body, 69 mustang neck, SD 59JM bridge pup, Fender Japan mustang neck pup. Pic is just after it was assembled. It now has a mustang neck w/brass nut. I put the 69 neck back on my 69 stang.

on ebay these go for like 500 or more, I thought?

best bet to craigslist one?

You dont have to take generalizations personal all the time Mike, i was'nt thinking of you, Doog or any specific person when i posted that. Im talking about guitarists in general.
Theres plenty of people think the Jaguar is a lifeless piece of shit, same as Ibanez RG models and plenty of other designs and i disagree. Like Johnny Marr said about the Jaguar- they just make you work harder as a player, unlike say a Tele that you just plug in and away you go.
I like this approach and i enjoy the challenge, besides, if a design appeals then its worth persevering with.

You might think i like wooly sounds, like you seem to think i want to drown all drummers out and i only play toneless Metal. But your wrong. My taste varies a lot, it just so happens to be i am currently in a Stoner Rock band so thats where im at at the moment.
Anyway, my JS is bright sounding. I'll bring it to Frogfest.
