don't listen to them! think how much nicer it'll be with something approaching an original colour. nothing you do cosmetically will devalue it, it's already been through the mangle.

usually both in the out of phase mode, or just the neck pup. im going through phases of which one i like best.

neck certainly has the most to say for itself.

This guitar is awesome. I was tempted to buy it when it was for sale, I would have been too tempted to mod the crap out of it though.

after a lot of personal issues and stuff, im back on the forums. i understand that i was a helluva douche to some people on the forums when i was last here. and i am unreservedly sorry, and i hope i can be accepted back on here as a poster. probably nobody really remembers me.

with regards to guitars, ive sold my jaguar, and seem to only buy used now. i got a 1992 Gibson les paul special, and a 1974 vox escort which is gorgeous.

in terms of the mustang in this thread, i decided to do what i always wanted and actually refinish it. as i was sanding it down i found the original colour - daphne blue, but i had already shelled out money on my dakota red sprays: and this is where we are so far:

overdid a coat and got some paint run. so annoyed with myself. i wanted to get this all sorted by the end of the week and now ive got to leave it to dry for god knows how long, and then sand that section right back down again

people keep saying this.
cant see it myself really. id prefer to stick to the single coil look. the neck pup is my favourite of the two.

thanks pat. really loving the way its turning out. i left the route in the colour it came to me - a little homage to the way it once was.
i buffed out the places where the paint had run, so i guess im just gonna have to go over that with a few more light coats to bring it to the level of everything else.

just got a second string tree for the headstock as the g string had a tendency to slip out of the nut. maybe just get a new nut? this will do for now.

overall. dunno how many more coats i need.... as it stands this is how it looks:

Please tell me you're keeping the old hacked pickguard and homemade mounting ring. They look amazing. They're actually my favorite bit about that guitar.

the hacked up pickguard is friggin awesome. really not sure about the mounting ring - but theres no way to get rid of it without changing the pickguard. so i guess it stays :).

also. final coat of colour is done. hopefully be finished and playing by the end of the week.

edit: ordered some new klusons. need to fill a pretty heavy hairline fracture in the headstock and clamp it together over this weekend. other than that and getting some laquer on the thing. pretty much nearly there.

Of all the things I have read after being away for a few days his really made me lol.

Shame you already had the red, would have been nice to give it its original colour back.
But does look like you have done a good job on it.

I think Crofty's lucky Thom's not sticking a P90 in his neck, frankly.

I can only hope that a grovelling, apologetic PM has been sent.
