I got my av52 tele for a stealll it's got a huge chip in the body,well it's like a fucking crater!!
which is cool cuz I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it at the time otherwise,

I've got a '90s RI '52 Tele and it's a workhorse. I haven't even rewired for modern position switching! It's gonna need a refret soon, which is the only guitar I have that I can say that's needed one due to my own playing.

They're really great playing, sounding instruments. Fat tele neck and biting bridge. It's really awesome when you start playing with the tone knob and rolling off it....almost get some humbucker sounds out of the bridge.

I love mine, it's beat to shit but I love it.

In comparison I had a 1965 Mustang (refin) and I really dug, but it got sold b/c I played my tele over it more (plus it was pink, not good color on me).

just wanted to agree with the rest. the av 52 tele is a great guitar. i don't even like teles, but the other guitarist in my band has an av 52 and i love playing it. it sounds great, but i hate the look. i don't have a mustang even though i love the way they look (and i kind of like the sound, but it's just not quite right) cos i hate the trem.

I couldn't do it. I've the Mustang cased up so long that I forgot how much I really like it. One, I forgot the tailpiece and extra body I promised in the trade and I drove 3.5 hours to see the family and trade the guitar, so I don't really feel like spending the money and time to make the drive again. Two, when I opened that case the guitar just speaks to me. Really for no reason other than I got the guitar for practically nothing and as all 30+ year old instruments, it has such a story behind.

I'm keeping the Stang because I just can't let it go.
