Already did.
Change it again then.
Its a badly cut nut. The slots are either too low or have been cut by a blind man with a chainsaw.
sounds like something pens would do.

Goddammit.

It is not the nut. I ruled that out. I filled the motherfucker with glue and left the string on top of it without recutting at all and it still did it. There is plenty of clearance for the string and it is not hitting any frets.

I'm nearly positive it is the truss rod thing mentioned. I have never ever heard of this before so I'm apprehensive about putting glue down the truss cavity, but I think I'm gonna have to.

Uh, no? I was fucking lucky to find a Supersonic at all and when I did it was in NORTH CAROLINA which is on the other side of the country.

Aside from the crap pickups and this one issue I love it.

What the fuck is wrong with both of you? I'm not getting the joke and don't get what the fuck you're on about.

I'm going to try the glue thing.

I'd blue tak and stuff clothes all around everything... tuners / bridge / trem springs / strings behind nut, etc etc...

You need to rule everything out first before going down the truss rod route.... you could even blue tak the end of the truss as its exposed... who knows even that could work in the diagnosis process.

Try tweaking the rod one way or the other first too..

I did tweak the rod but it's still doing it.

If it were the tuners wouldn't I hear that ping sound when I rap on the headstock? Right now the only place I hear it is when I tap on the back of the neck around the fifth fret.

What is blue tak?

when my truss rod hit the wall of the neck in an acoustic i just had a guy drill out a fret marker near the area it was moving and throw some silicone in there, problem solved.

It's actually the 'e' that's missing and not the 'c'

It's like plasticine but you usually use it to stick pictures on the wall, for example.

If it is the truss rod you could get rid of it from either loosing or tightening it significantly so there is more pressure between rod and neck... but that may cause to much bow in the neck one way or the other. Sometimes they are more susceptible to rattles at their natural position. This is what mine was like anyways. Try pushing and pulling on the neck as you strum and see if the noise disappears...

WHA, are you sure? When people say he ran ball bearings up and down the neck of his guitar they mean he put them on top of the strings for a slidey sound. I've never heard of them being in the truss rod channel.

DUDE YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE SOAPSONIC WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE.

THAT WAY I WOULN'T HAVE SOLD IT TO SOME KID ON SHORTSCALE WITH LIKE 5 POSTS NEVER TO SEE IT AGAIN BESIDES IN LUDACRIS EBAY ADDS BECAUSE THE D-BAG STUFFED GIBSON PICKUPS IN IT. DOUCHEZ

Hmm, Pens, if you still can't find the cause after eliminating all possible options, you just may have to take it in. I know you do your own setups and all, but if you can't find the cause with the help of the Bros, it might be best. Just sayin'.

Cheers

Also, if the ex-SoapSonic comes around again on the 'Bay, I think it deserves proper rescuing from douchbags and ZOMGIBSONZ!

And then you would have been pissed at the modifications I'd done to it, being that I'm lefty. When I get this shit sorted I'm drilling out the lower bout to move the control plate and filling in the top route to make this a true left hander.

When I bend the neck forward and back, it seems to get worse/better depending, but never goes away completely.

I just took the EBG strings completely slack and moved aside, so I could slap a piece of painters tape on a few frets on that side, to determine if it's hitting any frets 100%. What's crazy, is now when I do this, the A string, which never made this sound before, is making this sound. Only when these other strings are slack.

This is so damn baffling.

Maybe you should just play the frikkin thing? Sometimes, when a guitar has been stood and not used problems like these disappear with some playing.
Download some Steve Vai tabs, drink 10 cans of Red Bull and stay up playing non-stop for 3 days/3 nights.

It only shows up at certain tunings. I just determined that. If I detune the B, it goes away. If I uptune the B, it goes away. Only when it's at around Bb (I tune to Eb) does it show up.

And Fran, again, I can't fucking play it because the screech comes through the amp. WHEN I PLAY IT.
