there's a 60s mustang neck on there at the moment sitting at £99. looks like it needs refretted though, so not exactly a bargain either.

There are good condition MM necks in the US for less money, its just getting the damn things over here.
Im wondering what my chances are of getting one through customs when i visit the US.

if i were you i'd just buy one and get it shipped across. i had an old duo body shipped over, think i asked the person to mark $50 as the value and it got through.

and if you physically bring one back with you i think the chances of you getting hassled are extremely slim.

Just buy one there, start looking for good deals now and leave it with a shortscaler you plan to visit if you get one early. Then bring it back in your checked luggage. You'll get through customs without any hassle.

ok, but i'm not going to propose marriage after a 6 year correspondence, so you can get that right out of your head.

yeah, what james said- just make sure it's wrapped up and in your hold luggage. if you tried to get it into the cabin i could see why they might consider it an offensive weapon, but otherwise it's just a bit of wood that has no intrinsic value.

Noone will give two shits if it's in your checked baggage. Plus in the unlikely event you get searched in a UK Airport (doesn't happen, people). You say it's yours all along and that you took it out to the States with you as it's off your favourite Vintage Fender and you were having a Luthier in the States make an exact replica of it for a Custom Guitar you're having made.

You don't pay any duty on items you own that you took out of the country and back in again. Just get rid of any receipts

i bring stuff from the states all the time, never had a problem. The last time my sister went there she brought me 5 pedals (for me and some friends). The only time they checked my bag they asked me if i declared all that stuff i bought, i said i didn't know i needed to, and they let me go.

edit. my english sucks

My dad brought back a whole fucking pig leg (prostuto) from Croatia 10+ years ago. He walked by custom with it wrapped up in his coat.... ***embarrassed***

Yeh, ship anything my way Fran. Though it might get lost in route to me if it's a B&B neck :P

I offered this guy $30 shipped for this butchered 70's Mustang with orginal sunburst & contour body.... he said "no". He listed it twice at $20 plus $20 shipping on ebay.... not a single bid.

what possesses people to do shit like that? it's awful. and then to expect anybody to pay any amount of cash for something that chewed up is just bizarre.
