Everyone has a cyclical relationship with pedals, going all out and then minimal.
but a fucking Tubescreamer is just Fran being old, and having terrible taste.

I don't have any empirical evidence, but after browsing several different guitar forums it seems as if there is an ever growing contingency of people who consistently bring up the argument that effects are somehow limiting. I'm obviously new here though, so maybe it's different here.
This is just my personal experience though, yours may be different.

pedals kick ass, if i hadn't discovered effects i probably given up playing guitar by now.
Pog 2 is a really fun pedal, i would get one if i had the money. The analog delays are nice, but i think i prefer digital delays with tone controls, and the cathedral does that has well....

I hear that, if it weren't for effects I would have probably switched to modular synths or sitar or something.
