Okay, his appears to be rosewood, but here is a good example of one

Ryan Jarman (The cribs guy) did have a maple neck on his antigua mustang. It's in the mens needs video, here's a really small pic from google:

His main mustang, vintage white w/maple neck and black pg, is one of my favourite mustangs ever:

I didn't know they made mustangs in 1984... any idea how many were made? I'm guessing it must have been a pretty small number. Was Fender still owned by CBS at this point?

yeah, it was right at the very end of CBS: http://fendermustangstory.com/

otherwise they stopped making them in 1982 when they started making all the bullets and established Squier.

I also want to have a Mustang or Duo with maple neck. Anyone tried USACG necks? They have a 24" scale maple neck and also have stainless steel fret as an option, which I also want. Curious if anyone has had experience using one on a Mustang or Duo body?

Does anyone know what year that fender came out with the brazillian rosewood necks for the early 60s musicmasters? I had one long ago but foolishly sold it.

3 spare seconds and the, some might say, revolutionary use of an internet search engine suggests 1959.

I really like maple for playability. I am tempted to build a Jag with maple

now that you've spammed a bunch of ol' dead threads, you can see the classifieds section, where this guitar that you're in love with was for sale a couple months ago. you can go dig that one up too.

I've got a jap reissue from circa 1994. The mapel neck makes it play a lot faster and it has a really nice finishtoo. Much easier to clean - I'll never go back to rosewood!

makes you wonder, they go to all that effort with those reissues and stick the wrong logo on it.

I had the exact opposite experience. I picked up a 77 Stang just like Reece's and I just couldn't get into the Maple neck. If I never owner a maplestang again I'd be okay with. I understand why people like them, it just isn't my thing.

Wrong logo? I'm intrigued. Do tell...

should be like this-

whether it's deliberate or not the reissues always have little differences like that.
