Okay, his appears to be rosewood, but here is a good example of one
I didn't know they made mustangs in 1984... any idea how many were made? I'm guessing it must have been a pretty small number. Was Fender still owned by CBS at this point?Haze wrote:The last run in '84 was from leftover parts (plenty of leftover maple) and was sort of a 20th year
anniversary, those didn't have serial numbers on the headstock for some reason
has he gone and soiled himself in this photo?DanHeron wrote:His main mustang, vintage white w/maple neck and black pg, is one of my favourite mustangs ever:
yeah, it was right at the very end of CBS: http://fendermustangstory.com/astro wrote:I didn't know they made mustangs in 1984... any idea how many were made? otherwise they stopped making them in 1982 when they started making all the bullets and established Squier.Mr. Maxima wrote:Apparently in 1984, Fender made one last batch of U.S. made Mustangs for Yamano Music Store (a major Fender distributor in Japan) as the 20th Anniversary of the Mustang.
Soooooooo in love with that guitar.astro wrote:Here's another pic of Reece's maplestang, back when it was mine:
now that you've spammed a bunch of ol' dead threads, you can see the classifieds section, where this guitar that you're in love with was for sale a couple months ago. you can go dig that one up too.blankfield wrote:Soooooooo in love with that guitar.astro wrote:Here's another pic of Reece's maplestang, back when it was mine:o.

I had the exact opposite experience. I picked up a 77 Stang just like Reece's and I just couldn't get into the Maple neck. If I never owner a maplestang again I'd be okay with. I understand why people like them, it just isn't my thing.itakesmack wrote:I've got a jap reissue from circa 1994. The mapel neck makes it play a lot faster and it has a really nice finishtoo. Much easier to clean - I'll never go back to rosewood!
Wrong logo? I'm intrigued. Do tell...stewart wrote:makes you wonder, they go to all that effort with those reissues and stick the wrong logo on it.
