It's great when you find THE guitar, the one that feels perfect. It's cool you've got that. My mustang is pretty good but still doesn't feel perfect, a great giggin guitar though (if ever get round to starting a band and doing gigs haha). I'm not a huge fan of jagstangs though. I like the general look, and the quirkyness of them... but I would just get a mustang really.

jagstangs defintely feel better to play than mustangs though. for me that is both cos of the neck and the body thickness - the JS just feels better.
they both sound different though so that may be a consideration. although sound is easily changed and depends a lot on amps, pedals, playing style, etc and you can change pickups.
looks can also be be important for people. i prefer the look of a mustang, but my JS is better for me than a mustang.

Are the JS bodies thicker than the mustang? I love the size/thickness of the mustang body, its a bigger plus than the neck for me. I would love to try the JS neck.

JS is way thicker than Mustang, JS neck is a CIJ '69 Mustang neck

JS is 1&3/4" and mustang is 1&1/2"
I'd say it's 1/4" thicker rather than way thicker. It does seem much thicker than a contoured mustang though cos it is a slab body. If you have a slab bodied mustang then there would be a smaller noticeable difference.

oh wow... i can't wait for mine to arrive soon... should be any day now!
i've never even held one in my hands. i think they are kinda ugly but they have SOMETHING, dunno what. i'm quite curious to see if i'm gonna "dare" using it live onstage. i think yes.
i sold my old "lawsuit" ibanez V and destroyer/explorer cuz i thought i'd look weird, even though they were fantastic guitars. stupid me.
now, of course jagstangs scream cobain-fanboyism all over but what the fuck, if it wasn't for that guy most of us wouldn't be playing guitar anyway. so not rip-off/copy but more like tribute instead.
we'll see how it goes.
i've read SUCH great stuff about those necks too... teh kurdtz' favorite neck.
yes i can't wait...
Pat.

I only played a Mustang for the first time during the summer. I hadn't realised there was that difference n body thickness. I was really disappointed, and didn't like the Mustang at all. Maybe if I had time to get used to it.

I didn't realise that the difference would be quite so noticable when I got mine. In comparision did not like it at all. Had my Mustang for about 18 months before I got rid.

body weight and balance is another difference. mustang bodies are pretty light so the overall balance feels different and that can be another thing to get used to.

i took a radius gauge to my 96 j.s. neck and a 96 jaguar neck and proved that the neck shapes were actually DIFFERENT! i can't be arsed to pull the pics up from the dead, but trust me, they did actually used a special profile for the j.s. neck.
mine was my main guitar for about 6 years, then it took a 2 year break, and now its back on top.
supposedly fender was instructed to copy kurdt'z favorite mustang neck. I also boner for that neck, and after my mods it is an even awesomer guitar. I'm not sure if I'll be gigging it, cause Robert will be playing his right net to me....
One of the other awesome things, for me is how close the strings are to the top of the body, so you're not reaching over a bunch of wood to get to strumtown

The JS rules, it always has, fuck em all. Im just pleased that finally people are realising this, and throughout the years i've noticed not many want to sell their JS, no matter how long it sits in a case under the bed that sale cannot be considered.
The Mustang varies in weight, my 65 is heavier than a JS yet a thinner body and it is a beautiful player. But at the end of the day it is a guitar of another generation, not mine. The JS belongs to our generation, like the Toronado and Cyclone. To me, guitar players should move forward and carve new history, not forever be looking back with rose tinted glasses. As much as i love vintage gear and nostalgia i truly believe things NEED to move forward. Does anyone agree? Im drunk btw, but im a member of the completely right.

I think I will eventually have to build or buy a Jag-stang. Something about them just fascinates me. If I build, I can customize things like adding contours and making out of alder or ash.

I hate being broke. A guy is selling a near mint Sonic Blue Jag-stang for $400 on craigslist. Unless he takes trades I can't offer much.

There was a listing in Kansas City for a Jagstang for $300. If I would have had the money to front for it and I didn't live three hours away I would have picked it up for someone. :/
