rod is going to paint my bronco !!!!!!!

It's been a while and I've pm'd Rob, but just wanted to give the board a quick update. I'm waiting for the weather to clear up a bit before I start. After Pat's guitar, my girl will not let me do any sanding in the house, so I've got to wait for it to get nicer outside. It was clearing up last week then we got snow over the weekend. Once I get started I'll post pictures.

Ok, I finally had some time to start this and it was nice out today.
This is the early stages of the prep work, sanding and filling. Under the pickguard was pretty bad and Rob said he didn't care what it looked like, but even though only he and I would be the only ones to ever see it, I couldn't let it go without trying to clean it up.
The first step was to smooth the entire body out the best I could to get an idea about how much work was going to go into it. For the most part the body is in good shape and I was able to sand out most of the dings, but some are so shallow they won't take wood filler. I've got it to a point where I could put the first layer of wood filler in the routes and will have to wait for it to dry, then a second and probably third or fourth coat. I didn't take pictures of the filler, but will before and after the primer goes on. I'm off work tomorrow, so I'm thinking I might get it close to primer time.

rod, i didn't notice this thread until AFTER the sabres just lost the last playoff game of the year, so its totally cheered me up. i actually was so mad tonight that i went out fishing in the dark alone.

Haze - These pictures are before I even added any filler. I was just sanding down the rough stuff that was there. I've skim coated, sanded and skim coated again after I took the pics and it looks like one more pass over it and it will be good.
Rob - I was going to just respray it, but once I started sanding I figured I'd fix as much as I could. It is by no means getting a full restoration and there will still be some bumps and dings that won't take wood filler, but it will be way better than it was.

Not yet. Work has been crazy lately and I've had to put in some long days. Last weekend I went to get some primer and realized I can't buy any kind of spray paint in the city of Chicago, not even primer. I picked up a can during lunch on Monday and am off this weekend, so I'm hoping to make some serious progress then.robroe wrote:any updates on the puke green ?
