clearly, though, since all clawed jags don't go hyperphonic, there's another fix that doesn't require ruining some of the instruments aesthetics?

Immobilising the claws with glue or similar. Possibly more invasive.

Yep, basically filling the space between the claws and the pickup covers with glue [epoxy is probably the best for the job IMO - that's what I use to pot microphonic pickups with]), so they're one solid mass, will oftentimes get rid of the problem. But, if you want to change pickups afterword, you'll end up having to buy a whole new claw/pickup mounting assembly, and pickup covers (I wouldn't do it to uncovered pickups).

Why not just BEND the freakin claws a little tighter, so they grip the plastic cover? A little harder to pull apart, but better than epoxy, and just as stable.

didnt you say that it has the original claw, if so it probably needs to be wax potted again with the claws on it and the claws grounded properly. Id put money on that fixing it.
