i can't speak for the feel, but i can see the aesthetic horror clearly.

I would kill for an Epiphone Les Paul signature. There is just something way too cool about them.

I suggest not going for a Gibson unless you plan on forking out the cash for the custom shop models. The production line es335's, especially the faded versions are just terrible. As a former owner of a Epiphone supernova i can tell you it's a decent guitar for the money, but even after changing out the pickups i dont think it quite reached the tone of a real 335. Edwards make an amazing copy of a 335 for around a grand with shipping.

I am very high on the new Taylor T3 since I played one at the Taylor booth at the Dallas Guitar Festival. It has coil tapping on the humbuckers and a Bigsby option. Gorgeous guitars Probably out of your price range though.

Currently I'd really like to get a nice vintage Gibson ES-125 (ideally : thinline, no cut-away, 1 pup). That is, if I can find one, try it, and if the neck does not feel too awful for me. Prices for those don't seem too silly.

Twelve strings embody loads that I don't like about the sound of the guitar: I want clangs and angry panther noises, not jangle. And I hate the Beatles and I hate REM, and I grew up in the 80's when every fucker played a twelve string.

That's good to know. I had a quick look and saw the modern ones weren't hollow and assumed they'd made them the same as the 60s ones.

I have a Hagstrom II at the moment and I like the neck a lot but I'm not sure if I'd get on with it on this sort of guitar. It's nice to know I can keep the viking in mind, though.

I'm not sure what sort of price the Elitist Casino goes for but the Casinos in general are definitely something I need to look into.

Are any of the other models hollow? Like the Riviera or whatever the others are.

Makes sense. I'll take my clangs along with my jangle (dare I say clangle?) though....I was just wondering if it was a particular thing against the coronado xii's or just xii's in general.

I'll probably end up with a coro xii at some point when I can afford to upgrade from my dano dc-12. I absolutely hate playing rickenbacker 12 stings and I want something somewhat more substantial and louder than my dc12.

It's a nice price but if I'm going to jump on something now it's going to have to be a fantastic deal or something hard to get hold of that looks the part (like a black coronado or that walnut greco I posted). I couldn't go for a normal, black headstock, fairly available coroando while I'm at the beginning of checking out the options. It's still tempting but I'm going to wait a while longer.

Have you considered a Schecter Corsair?
