yo yo,

I posted a thread over at talkbass. It requires a supporting membership to ask how much a bass is worth. (It is pretty much the equivalent of the 50 post here, if they don't do it EVERYONE is asking how much there crap is worth and everyone tries to sell their stuff on the site). I acted like it was my bass, just fyi.

Awesome! I'll keep an eye on the thread. People there are saying I should age the pickguard and bridge, but I don't know how to age a bridge without wrecking it. I think the pickguard will probably age pretty quickly on its own, since I've been playing her a lot since the restoration! The more I play her the more I want to keep her... but I've got 5 basses and I really should downsize (or get a bigger apartment!)

They make some kind of polish like stuff that you can rub on metal and it will make look as if it is aged.

I saw on a youtube video the other day. I'll try to track it down. I do agree with them that you should keep it though!

Yea I saw that post today, I agree about the pickguard, but as far as the bridge, if I played like 3 shows with that bass it would look aged, the bridge doesn't look that out of place, but the pickguard does look a little too shiny and new for that beautifully beaten up bass.

Pickguards never stay shiny for very long, so I think all I need to do is to keep playing it. I think the bridge is a small enough part that it's not too noticeable that the chrome is all shiny and perfect.

EDIT: Hmm, did Fender basses of this era have brown thumbrests or black ones? I didn't think about this until now... but I think they might have had brown thumbrests and I got a black one
