That's not saying much because there's only the Precision, Jazz, Mustang and Jaguar basses dude. Mad variations (signature/deluxe/ludicrous) on Ps and Js but no other actual different model names. If they discontinued the Jag bass I guarantee you it was the least popular one. It's certainly the most redundant features-wise. It just has pointy boobies over a Deluxe Jazz or something.
It's also not a classic Fender Bass (P and J) nor a re-issue (Mustang) so I can see it going first in these vapidly vintage times.

I call shoop on the Squier Jag bass. They wouldn't bother. I've been wrong about that exact kind of thing a billion times though.

While not a fan of Mr. Hamm himself I found the Urge bass to be pretty tasty. I had hang-ups with the looks from time to time but it was a really nice bass.

If this is real I am extremely tempted to pick one up and slap a baddass bridge on it. Making it a PJ setup and getting rid of the stupid active circuit makes that bass right up my alley!

It looks horrible real or otherwise. All that tort with no chrome makes it look unbalanced, although the tort isn't as offensive as the CV Jazz Bass (which leads me to believe it is fake), the top horn looks wrong. I hate that big gap between the neck pickup and the neck. Yeugh.

So not a fan of Jaguar basses anyway.

Christ. That thing looks hideous -- and I am a relatively new owner and lover of a CIJ Jaguar bass. To me, it's seems quite apparent that it's a mock-up created using Adobe® Photoshop® software or equivalent. That doesn't necessarily mean it's not legit though, as it's possible there was just not a model available for photography at the time the write-up was made.

I thought so too. It seems to measure the same as a Deluxe P with the P/J pickups as far as the distance from end of neck to neck pickup to bridge pickup to bridge, but it has that twenty extra square feet of dogballs tort going up the horn.

Either way, it seems ridiculous to call it a "Jaguar" bass, as it looks nothing like a Jaguar sixer or even the CIJ Jaguar bass. If they were going to disregard the top chrome plate, I think it would have been a neat idea to fully commit to Jazzmaster aesthetics and call it a Jazzmaster bass. At least then they're bringing an original name and design to the table, rather than a disgusting version of something that seemingly a lot of people didn't care for even when it much more closely followed the Jaguar design.

think it's a hoax... The colour of the headstock is slightly different to the body. And i don't think that squier will make a bass with such an odd wiring.

Agathis tends to be light. I have a Dirnt bass(Squier) of agathis and it's light. My tele that was agathis was light too. Agathis is a tropical evergreen with tonal qualities of mahogony ( I don't think so) kinda like a hard pine. Basswood on the other hand is heavy.

Isn't that backwards?? Every basswood guitar I've ever owned has been incredibly light. My MIJ basswood jag was one of the lightest guitars I've had, and jags have big bodies. By contrast, my squier tele made out of agathis is like a rock. About as heavy as the average Les Paul I'd say. Agreed that it doesn't sound like mahogany though...more like alder.

This thing is cool but looks funny. I wouldn't say it's fake necessarily, but I can't see there really being a market for this.

I've always thought that agathis and basswood were both pretty light.

Maybe different bits of wood weigh different amounts?

The only Agathis guitar I have is my Squier Bronco bass, which is pretty light. But it's small, so who knows.

I own a Hello Kitty Strat. Its body is very thin (like a mustang/duosonic). Although it is not a very light guitar.
