so i cut a template, set my wood.
not sure about the template.. and shape... your thoughts?
i think i'm gonna call it a Обвайзер Mig-29
Обвайзер = bablefish translation of Fender
and mig's are just sexy.. like a mustang and a jaguar..
PICS!
not sure if i am totally settled on the design yet.. i'll sand down the edges of the template
it feels small, but is approx mustang sized.. i'm headed home on monday, and dependant on my job i may be back to work on this very soon, but the wood needs time to set and cure anyways. plus i can compare the template to my 74 mustang body..

bottom horn is still wonks.
and it feels small because mustangs are small.
looks pretty good, despite.

yeah i'm not happy with the lower horn... i had brought it down at attempted to round it more, but it turned out kind of square..
i may do a couple more test sketches and templates before cutting into the wood.
i've enough for two bodies.. so.. who knows.
i'm open to ideas though

portugalwillie already said it, but that first concept looks the best to me.
Maybe elongate it to give it a bit more of a jaguar body, but the long upper horn on your new sketches makes me think it looks alot like a regular Jag.
Will you be going for Mustang style pickups? Have you considered Soap Bars, make it look like a jazzystang? or humbuckers in general?
This is a rad project my friend.
Hope this helps.

it will have a single coil for the neck and a humbucker in the bridge, ala a jag-stang..
i took some shots of the template lined up against my 74 mustang today, and also vs a 90's duo-sonic to see how it looked for shape and size, the upper horn is good, needs a bit of work on the lower horn still, make it more rounded, less shallow, and the but end needs a bit more angle ... i think..
i'll be re sketching it out, and possibly making another template tonight.
vs mustang
vs duo sonic

That is nice. I am jealous.
Cannot wait for this to be finished.

modified the sketch again, i'll be making another template tonight.
brought the lower horn down a bit more, and further exaggerated the tail angle

made another template, lined everything up on it.. had to adjust a couple things.. nothing to huge though.
PICS!
i think i'm happy enough with this concept to make it into an actual guitar..

just cut the body, still loads to do (obviously)
but here are some shots of the on-going projekt
first i cut two 20" pieces of pine from my 2x10
then figured out where i wanted the join in the body to be
ran the wood through a 4" joiner a couple times to get it ready for glue
![Image](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f357/microserf_x/concept%20guitar/IMG_0080.jpg)
clamped and glued
![Image](http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f357/microserf_x/concept%20guitar/IMG_0067.jpg)
made sure i missed the gigantic knot in the wood as that would really be no fun.. and screwed the template into place
then used a ban saw to cut out the body
still needs to be sanded, and have all of the control cavalier routed out.. as well as the neck
but it feels good.
and since my phone has shitty apps that i like to play with

Fucking radical, man. I'm digging the hell out of the idea of this guitar.

the sanding down to shape is coming along, and i'm starting to think of options...
i like this:
http://www.shopamw.com/servlet/the-1221 ... For/Detail
for a pick guard.. and i'm sure ends will agree..
for colour of paint i'm not sure, maybe a dark translucent blue.. so you still get a bit of the grain showing through...
or possibly a translucent black... but i don't know how well that would look...

I really wouldn't get that close to the template with a band saw, just rough it and get the rest with a router but DAMN that body is looking good. Love the sape so hard

i just realized i haven't posted any of the sanded down pictures yet..
but as i also haven't routed the body yet (probably friday?) i'm thinking i'll also route the body edge to curve it, no cutaways.
and then get the hand sanding happening..

final shape, still needs to be sanded a bit more and routed
i'll be doing that next week
and then.. then to figure out what colour to paint her.

I like how this is going along.
Your joints are looking super neat. Keep 'em coming!

great job, but that lower horn still looks weird. i'm sure you like it, it just throws off the whole thing visually, for me.
again, great job.

i think the line going to the lower horn is a bit to flat, its more rounded on both the mustang and the jaguar.. this will probably be changed as i get the sanding happening.
thanks for your input
