Is'nt the Behringer Superfuzz a clone of the Boss FZ models? Anyway, i use one on some Master Charger stuff, great bass boost and works well with dropped tuning. The Amp really matters though, im using a 1970s Laney valve head, if i use the Crate PowerBlock or Line 6 combo things just are not the same. Every decent band we've played with uses either vintage Orange, Matamp or Marshall. There is obviously some coolio factor to this but the sound does seem to 'breath' better with old valve amps.
Famously, it's an FZ2.ohyeahfuzzbear wrote:I read somewhere that electric wizard just use cranked marshalls.

my music sounds similar to tragedy skullfucking sabbath. c sharp is low enough to do that. like you guys said it's more about attitude. i get a semi convincing tone out of my practice amp's dirty channel with the rat. if i crank my bassman, i just get shellac tones(which is fine but not for this band), and the rat doesn't want to take to the amp. i think the pedal is messed up or something. i don't think i ds1 in front of the bassman is going to be nearly enough grit.

I dunno. I think a lot depends on pickups too. The trouble with low tuning is keeping some kind of clarity or note definition, a high gain pedal with powerful pickups will end up sounding messy.borrowedworld wrote:my music sounds similar to tragedy skullfucking sabbath. c sharp is low enough to do that. like you guys said it's more about attitude. i get a semi convincing tone out of my practice amp's dirty channel with the rat. if i crank my bassman, i just get shellac tones(which is fine but not for this band), and the rat doesn't want to take to the amp. i think the pedal is messed up or something. i don't think i ds1 in front of the bassman is going to be nearly enough grit.
Tony Iommi used just a treble booster pushing valve heads with low output pickups in the early days, people think they need a fangled mad-as-fuck pedal but they dont.
The original pickups in my BCR measured 18.5k, they were great for standard tuning Rock but useless in dropped A tuning, especially with Fuzz or Distortion. I fitted some 8k P90s and it sounds great now, but i still have to keep the gain down on the pedals.
Less is always more with gain devices.

Definitely try it. I get some great sludge out of it. Turn the bass boost way up, kill the treble a bit, mix the clean out completely and dime the gain. It's a beautiful pedal.matt.dines wrote:Ye man fo sure. I just cast it off as being not at useful for my playing an that.
But am definatly up for some new soundz.
Then again, I go for the sloppier sludgier side of doom so it's very likely a personal preference thing. But that pedal drives my sovtek into uncharted territory.
