That ridiculous fellow is me. After finding the link above in this thread, I inched up from $101 to $355 (about $10 at a time) until I was highest by a couple dollars. So that makes at least two dummies bidding over $350 for it.
I have four Super-Sonics. One in each colour. I wanted one more custom one that I was going to modify anyways, so if it in pieces that is fine. Was going to strip and paint it anyways. The last two that went up on eBay were over $600 in the end. So, from that perspective, $355 isn't so bad at all.
And yes, I've paid less. But I want one more, and $355 is less than $600.
Blue was $299, new in 1998. Black was $400, new in 2005. Silver and white ones I got a year a go, used, for about $500 each on eBay.
And if you think that is still a rip off - I paid $700 CDN for a Vista Venus XII last week.
Oh, and since this is my very first post on shortscale - I should add that I have a 1970 Comp Mustang and a matching 1971 Comp Mustang Bass (blue).

Somebody else blew it, then. I would have BINed it in a second.
I figure, Fiesta Red...

If I get it, or another one, the idea is a Fiesta Red Super-Sonic / Esquire. Fill the bridge cavity, put a left-hand tele bridge on it, a BG-1400 pickup.
Or make a new body and use the neck / neckplate. Something.
The ones I have are all modded - Blue has Fat 50s Strat pickups, Silver has P-Rails, Black has one stacked YJM, White has dual Dimarzio HBs. All four have stuttering kill buttons.
I suppose the real problem is if I decide that I need a Daphne Blue one, and a White Blonde one....

My bid for the Super Sonic was cancelled and now it's listed at a BIN of $355.

What's up with the canceled bid?

wadeaminute, here is your second chance at it.

Yup. That was for me. I got it.
So, five Super-Sonics altogether. Ridiculous. AND, I just bid on another shortscale that I've wanted for a long time, but that one is a secret.
Now I just need a decent luthier here in Winnipeg, Canada.

So did the seller cancel the original auction for you?

Photos - I'll definitely try and figure that out soon. They are all hanging on a wall like a guitar store (well, ten of them are). This is only about my fifth post, so I'm brand new here. Photos might take a few days. Maybe this will work for now...

Very nice! extremely jealous! I like the couple that you modded that have a full pickguards (no control plate). I think thats what I'll be doing with my build until I can get a plate custom made.

Three of the four have custom pickguards. The blue one just got a white pearl guard, but it has a clear one on it for eleven years. That looks amazing.
The plan for the new one is to fill all of the holes and make it an Esquire without a pickguard in Fiesta Red. Or maybe Filter'Trons.

holy crap, is that white one rob's soapsonic??????

by wadeaminute
Nope. Not even aware of Rob's SoapSonic, but I am curious.
It's got two Dimarzio humbuckers (Tone Zone and a PAF), a momentary button, a three way, and two volumes with push / pull pots to split the coils. And white tuning machines. I put more details up on jag-stang.com. Maybe I should do that here, too?Image
