The original shortscale guitars; Mustangs, Duo-Sonics, Musicmasters, Jaguars, Broncos, Jag-stang, Jagmaster, Super-Sonic, Cyclone, and Toronados.

It might not still be for sale but it looks gorgeous.
I saw this a few weeks ago, since it's on my local Gumtree. I've really no need for a Jag but I was very tempted. Even if it is a bit dodgy or whatever, as yous were insunuating, most folk would be handing the cash over in hand (since it's Gumtree).

It's been on for a while though, so it's probably sold.

That looks quite worryingly original... hmmm... faded finish / mute / shrunken guard, nice tort / matching head(possible) etc etc. Either this guys stolen an image of and original or this could be scam... or he doesn't know what he has. Or aged very quickly and nicely and they've popped a mute on there. I'd be cautious anyways.
yeah, it really does look like a vintage jag. klusons too? hmm...

he also states "no dings" but there's quite clearly a paint chip on the upper horn. i reckon he's just googled for a white jag image to stick on the ad rather than take a photo.
I agree with this outcome too... the most likely !!

Definitely think MIJ is the way to go. As Fran says, I'm a single coil guy. Especially when it comes to fenders, my les Paul takes care of humbucker tones.
I'd like to score one for as little outlay as possible, so guess it'll be trawling the bay and classifieds for one. Would mind a hand looking out for one, Fran.

you'll probably be looking for CIJ*, and you'll probably hate the bridge pickup.

* may help in your search quest

Yeah. I looked on eBay and osg last night, nothing about that was cheap anyway. I'll keep an eye out for you ;)

thanks fran, i'm gonna keep an eye out on the bay.

thinking of upgrade the pickups to fender custom 69's like my strat. Love those pickups. Though if the pickups are ok stock, i'll leave it for a while.

I'd love to pick up a white or green one. Wish the did sonic blue with mint.

Mint guards are only about £25 from GPR.
You'll pay a lot more for blue or surf green, with your budget I think your looking at sunburst, CAR or olly White. May get lucky though, I got a burgundy mist got £300 a few years ago... They haven't jumped up in price that much and with the recession bargains do pop up.

Blues and Greens bring us lot out of the woodwork, so you're going to end up paying for the premium - even in fairly tatty shape.

Fran is right as usual (he is the CIJ Authority after all). If you want £300 or less it's going to be a standard colour and in a bit of a shabby state most likely. Keep your eye on local Gumtree also, but never send money - deal in person on Gumtree (with Fran to glass people if it goes Tong)

Don't put '69s in there Rob, you've got them in your strat. Put some nice Jag pickups in there.

What are you, The Borg?

Keep an eye on Offset and snap up some AVRI Jag pickups when someone on there swaps them out for some unobtanium pickups.

Rob, what you really want to do is get Bareknuckle to rewind your CIJ pups for you - they will do any spec you want.
I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Is about £30 per pickup.

They did mine - crappy CIJ to AMAZING rock machines!!!
No, they don't change the magnet, but honest to god, they sound amazing.
I have a really overwound bridge pup (22k!) and that is way better than the SJAG-3 I had a while back.
Neck is now clear, and warm, very vintage like which is what I asked for.

Bare Knuckle Pickups wrote: Rewind of single coils to spec with vintage plain enamel or heavy formvar wire £32 per coil
Rewind of humbucker to spec with vintage plain enamel wire including repotting of covers if necessary £64 per p/up
Waxpotting £12.50 per p/up
New Alnico 2, 3, 4 or 5 bar magnets (inclusive of fitting) £10 each
Shame it costs so much to have humbuckers rewound.

That's interesting, I got mine for £32 inclusive of wax potting...looks like they have added that as an extra now :(
