I don't even think you can get packaged sets of 7s anymore. You'd have to order singles. I know D'addario still makes 7 gauge plains, though.

Now I kinda wanna put 7s on something just to see what it's like. I'd be amazed if I could even get the E up to tension.

i used to play 13's, but whilst sounding thick it killed my left hand. i've worked my way down to 10's now, which seems to be an alright compromise of playability and not caning my hand. hopefully after some physiotherapy sessions, it might get back to 11's.

tweaking the truss rod is quite simple, just remember how far you've turned it (small increments are better), so you can always go back to what it was. say 1/4 of a turn at a time.

I met a jazz guy once who had a set that I swear was 15-60. Playing that guitar was as physically demanding as upright bass.

Yeah, I have a few single strings left from a few years back.

It did mean dropping to two springs on the Strat tremolo.
