OK, plan has moved ahead.
Now it's the same BUT without the bigsby (too much €€€) but WITH a black pickguard.
As soon as I get the pickguard I'll get it done.

Plan moved on after a rather lengthy hiatus AND with me doing most of the work. First (shitty) pic:
yes, a matte finished pickguard. The pup's I bought from Haze all those ages ago really did big difference. The bridge is a stock singlecoil found in all of them CV Tele's.
'Tis a much nicer guitar to play now since I finally learned how to intonate a guitar. I always knew how to do it, but today the knowledge just activated itself. I have become sentient.

Mages wrote:I dunno man, IMO the tele w/ bigsby thing is really over hyped. one of the things that makes teles so cool is the bridge. hard tail, string though body, brass saddles; they're all significant parts of the tele sound. have you played some guitars with bigsbys before? it's not like a fender style tremolo.
I once thought as you do, and I've put bigsbys on a fair share of guitars but in almost ever case I've regretted it. you really can't use them for any kind of "modern" vibrato effects. they're only for stuff like bends and flutters at the end of a phrase. think: 50s/60s instrumental bands. if you are into that stuff... well OK then.
also, it effects the resale value of the guitar because you now have a guitar with an irreversible mod done to it. we all say we're gonna keep all our guitars forever but almost always life has a way of changing our minds.
so, some things to think about there.
GTFO! My bigsby'd tele sounds EXACTLY like the traditional/classic telecaster! Not only does the vibrato feel much more natural than a strat trem, the extra metal hardware only adds to the tele tone.

so it adds to the tele tone but it also sounds exactly like a stock tele? okay.... that's fine that you dig that sound but I do not agree that it sounds the same as a hardtail 3-saddle tele. sorry if I came across a little strong in my original post but it's just that I've seen a lot of praise for this mod on forums and very little contrary opinion. when someone is talking about permanently modifying their beautiful new guitar I think it is worth their while to consider all the info available.
does it feel more natural than a strat trem? well, it is a smoother acting vibrato but at least the strat trem you can hold in your hand while you're playing. the jaguar trem is easily far better than a bigsby. the mustang trem, well.... ;]
