No, there wasn't any decal anywhere. I got if off Guitar Center's used gear site, so I think these were modifications done by the previous owner.
I do need to get it restrung, I think. I tuned it perfectly according to my tuner and it still sounded a little iffy on the G,B,E strings. One thing I noticed is that there's some noise when using the bridge or neck pickup, but it's dead-silent when both pickups are used. Odd.

It's very unique. I like it. Just get some Bronco knobs and you will have the coolest CV Duo around.

Yes because the pickups together cancel each other out and is fuller but quieter.

Thanks for the info, taylornutt. Even with the tuning issue, I love the tone. I should have gone with one of these in the first place instead of a Tele.

Here is what is sounds like with .10s. You can hear it sound like it's out of tune, but putting .11s on it fixed the "tuning" issues.

Yeah, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised with the upgrades. I thought it looked a little different in the picture, but wasn't sure. With tax + shipping, it was just under $220.
Regarding the Bronco knobs--is it a complicated procedure in replacing the standard knobs or are they pull-offs?

They should pull off or there is a screw that holds it on.

Wow, I'm surprised to, I thought you bought it new also, I think it looks great. Allot like Hazes' Musicmaster a few lines up. But nice contrast with the white P/U covers.

We keep hoping, but I think you will be waiting a long time. Fender Mexico has been doing some nice stuff lately (Blacktop Series and Classic Player), but I just don't think it makes Fender enough money to do it.

It would be stepping on the toes of the Mustang too much I think. If we see anything of the like from Squire my money would be on a "Bronco" of some sort. But I'd not put any money on that bet either.

mustangs are offset. this is not. these are based on '50s duo-sonics not mid to late '60s duo-sonic IIs. the closest we'll probably ever see to a squier mustang is the cyclone.

Is there a good clone for the Mustang then? Like if I want a good Strat Copy, it costs next to nothing from Xaviere. They have Offsets but they only come with P90s, Tele pickups or Humbuckers. if they made a Mustang it'd probably be strat pickups.

Not really, just the MIJ Reissuses, but those are expensive. Better to find a used one on Craigslist or evilbay. The 65 or 69 reissues used will be the most affordable.

Yeah, it does look good. But it's a surprise, not what you were buying at all. Shame on GC for not being up front about these differences.

I agree that they should have noted the different pickguard in the listing, but I'm actually happy with the tuners and pickguard changes made to it. I prefer the black pickguard over the standard gold pickguard.
This has happened before with GC. I bought a used drum machine (at a different GC) that had some mod done to it with no mention of the mod in the description. It didn't even work, so I just returned it at a local GC.
