I think those things played well but what I never understood, didn't these have polyurethane on the necks? My 70s maplestang did and no matter how much you play those things, you won't ever get through the finish, they just get shinier and shinier. Rosewood looks fantastic though.

yeah, the originals were poly. the road worn ones are anachronisms.

These guitars are pointless without the big headstock - it works so well with the scratch plate.

I've always wanted a Tele Deluxe too. These new colors look great but as others have said, needs big headstock.

I would miss the Strat headstock for sure.

If it had the ’70s headstock I’d be *all over* that green one.

The other guitarist in my band plays a Tele Deluxe and I've always had a secret lust for it. I was expecting to prefer them with the regular-sized Tele headstocks, but it just looks really wrong. I nearly bought one of the red Black Dove ones with the p90s when I bought my Baja, I just thought we'd look ridiculous on stage with such similar guitars, the Baja Tele is just different enough I reckon.

There is something not quite right about that green, I just can't put my finger on what it is. Hmm...

This thread has answered most of my questions but I'm not sure about that first color, seems like some type of green to me.

I think Fender is really just cranking out a lot of stuff right now, throwing it out there and seeing what sticks. These Deluxe's seem like they're taking a cue from the blacktop series: high gloss, RI/USA logos, modern tuners, amp-style knobs, unique finishes and pickguard colors.

I think if I spotted a hollowbody Tele with bound neck in a guitar shop, I'd wait until nobody was looking, flop my peen out and just lie it on a bit of the guitar for a full five minutes. If interrupted, I'd have to start over once the coast was again clear. Afterwards, I'd let the manager know what I'd done in the hope that he would then knock some money off and let me have it cheeps.
