I was going to suggest selling your stuff on CL first. I bet you'd come out better selling on CL than dealing with a pawn. I think the Dallas Observer has online classifieds, too.

CL would be the best way to get money, but I have a feeling that even CL may not work. In reality, the squier duo is worth 200, the Jagmaster 200 and the amp 100. If I remember the jagmaster had some issues I though (cracked body or something). Unfortunately, typically a modded squier is still only worth about what the squier is worth so total probably $500. Modded guitars simply do not sell for much more than if it was stock unless you find the perfect buyer (which sometimes does happen). It would be tough in this economy to sell all three items for 600 cash. Which means it will be tough to convinve the pawn shop that they can sell them for 700 cash (since they will only take the deal if it is in their favor.

Either way, good luck.

Unfortunately, the transaction went about like I thought it would. I got him down to $500 (without tax) on the Jazzmaster. However he gave me nothing for the trade in. He offered me $250 for both guitars and $60 for the Bugera.

$500-310 = $190.

The guy was straightforward about it all, but just didn't want to give much for the guitars. If he would have come down another $100 I probably would have pulled the trigger. The J Mascis Jazzmaster was in perfect cosmetic condition and looked awesome. I knew the neck was satin finish, but it actually felt just like the neck on the current Squier Jagmaster. Anyway, I gave it a shot and it was worth trying anyway. I might trying selling the gear on CL and seeing if I could raise enough cash for it or give the money to HotRod for his Jag-stang if he has not already sold it.

I agree it was a deal, but I just didn't have enough cash. It still might be there later if I can sell my stuff.

For that deal I would have ads up on CL and discount pricing here.....like yesterday.... I wish u the best cuz Craigslist here in St. Louis it is almost impossible to sell anything right now....economy sucks and Christmas is almost here....

also, you know if you had traded that V5 for my SCOD he would have done the trade in a heart beat as soon as he saw that magnificant orange box of love....LOL....JK

I got all my gear up on CL. Hopefully I can move them quickly and take a second shot at the J. Mascis Jazzmaster before it's gone.

Update on selling my gear on CL:

Bugera V5 - sold for $100

Squier Duo Sonic - not sold but interested people emailing me

Squier Jagmaster - Someone contacted me wanting to trade a 1998 Black Toronado for the Jagmaster. While I want cash, I think the Jagmaster will be the hardest item to move and a Toronado would be easier to sell than a Custom Jagmaster. Besides I have never played a Toronado. I am actually scared I might like the Toronado and that might keep me from getting the Jazzmaster.

Should I trade for the Toronado? Isn't the 1998 Toronado the more valuable Toronado to own?

whaaaat?
Do it.

Take the CV Duo+Bugera+Toronado back to the pawnshop and get the JM.
Dude wants $500 for the JM, you'd be offering him at least $650 worth of shit, assuming the Toro's in good condish.

Edit: just saw that you already sold the amp.
Too bad. It might still work without the amp, maybe.

GOOD 4 u man!!! I would trade for the Toronado, I agree your Jagmaster will be the hardest to sell, the Toronado it worth more in resale and if u like it keep it for a bit but if not sell it..... even if you do not get the J Masics you still got rid of your hardest guitar to move and got to mess with a new to u axe ((rawk))

P.S... weren't the Toranado's like $500 new?..... if a used MIM Strat goes for $300ish used then I would think this would as well...

Plus its Humbuggies 8)

The plot thickens. Someone just offered me $250 cash for the Jagmaster. I really would like to try the Toronado but if I take the cash I would only have to sell the Squier Duo Sonic to afford the JM Jazzmaster. Decisions, Decisions!!

Which toronado is it? Makes a big difference.

I think Toronado(e?)s were debuted in '98 and that all of them were 'Deluxes' with the big guard, Bronco-esque bridges and chrome buckers.
This would make it one of the more sought after ones. Shame it's not an Orange/Pearloid one cause that would be a home run deal!

I beleive the newest ones were the GT models with the stripes, newer as in 2000's.....

Cash is KING.... depends if u want jm singles or humbuckers...... not a bad desicion to have to make 8)

I just had a thought. If I can get the $350 from the Jagmaster and the Bugera, Maybe I could trade The Duo Sonic and the cash the JM? He offered me $125 last time I was in there and with the $350 I already have that is $475, definitely within striking distance. I would pay $25 if they wouldn't come lower. I need to try to talk with the same guy I did before so I don't have to negotiate it all again. I am meeting the guy to buy the Bugera in a hour and hopefully the cash buyer for the Jagmaster will contact me soon.

I waited for almost an hour at Starbucks and finally sold the Bugera. Now if the person who offered me cash would contact me I could sell the Jagmaster and try to finish this deal. I hate waiting for people to get back to me. :(
