Glad to see the RC-3 as the RC-2 looks plenty good for me and hopefully it'll come down in price a bit now.

Did Doog say something about doing away with the '80s ROCKER aesthetic? Clearly he hasn't seen my favorite pedal so far this year:

Love the Commodore Amiga graphics. This looks like a real piece of shit. Guess that's the point though.

Also, lots of looping stuff. I've never seen a looper pedal successfully used in a live band situation, whether to trigger pathetic samples or tediously layer shit on the fly. Has anyone else?

Randy from No Age uses a looper. Loops some noise and stuff to fatten up thicken the sound. Works well in a 2 piece, especially a noise band.

Liam Finn uses a loop pedal to great effect for his live shows. There's a performance of him on David Letterman on YouTube, but I'm on my phone and don't have the energy to track it down.

I've long tried to make a loop pedal work in a full-band context, but the biggest hurdle is getting completely jacked into the rhythm section and having their full cooperation. You need to be completely sure your shit is locked tight with the bass and drums, and after you start a loop, they need to be able to let the loop lead the charge for the duration; it's not going to change tempo like they can. Proper execution is made even more difficult if you don't have adequate monitoring at rehearsals and gigs.

This only applies to rhythmic or percussive passages, obviously. If you just want to layer a bunch of atonal ambient stuff, it's cake. I was considering picking up a DigiTech JamMan single pedal because it destroys the RC-2 -- but now I'm super-juiced for the RC-3.

That space reverb would be nice if it didn't cost a guitar to buy. I wasn't too impressed tho.

Kind of how all Moog is too expensive for many to purchase. I keep wondering who they make all this awesome shit for.

dude from russian circles/dakotadakota uses an rc50 and rc20xl and dominates the looping shit.

i saw brand new perform a cool version of a song where each member would come out and later a particular part of the loop in order to make up the main part of the chorus, and then when jesse came out and started singing, he stopped it, but when he started it again, the full band was ready to rock and added all the other parts in. it was heavy.

Haters will hate on this, but Trey Anastasio made awesome use of the Boomerang in Phish. He would use it to grab little notes or phrases that he would bring back in at various times during the show to kind of unify all the jams. It was a very subtle, tasteful technique.

Akai has a new line of analog pedals, but the housing just looks like som chinese made oem pedals I've seen under different names.

The description of this one seems like a Big Muff rip

They also have a phaser with two sweep rates but limited controls.

On another note, I really like the looks of that Akai phaser. Looks like a budget Phase 100. I can has The Clash?
