this thread and also finding a UK custom maker of jazzmasters and the fact that 71 guitars will be over priced this year because everyone who is 40 will buy one and the fact that gibson and fender were in a big transistion and value might not be worth it means things might be in a state of flux for me but I have to say I might be trying to angle a trip up the road to benecols soon just to try both his GS & Jazzy pretty soon

but the UK meet up will be a better place for a brass nut and some english guitar class

Stay on target, soft lad: not everyone will be buying birth-year guitars. Hang in there: January and February are notoriously bleak months on eBay etc. Something will crop up.

very true, and i get like this when I see you posting such great guitars. I think 71 might be a poor year though but I'm looking around these years to widen the net. I just also like the idea of a bespoke/unique guitar as well. friday night drunk speak kicking in as well

It might seem shallow, but I'm always put off by people making Jazzmasters and similar without doing a decent edge contour. It really doesn't suit the guitar for it to be so square. It looks fine on a tele or an explorer, but even if I had a bound body jazzmaster I'd want it to have an arm contour and overall be quite free flowing and svelte. It's very out of place and just looks lazy on a jazzmaster.

Benecol, that is a fucking beauty. probably the most perfect JR style i've ever seen.

That looks well worth the wait, Tim. I'm not usually a fan of chunky necks but I can imagine it feeling natural on this guitar.

Which leads me to remembering i have a perspex Jazzmaster routing template, a natural finish with a decent piece of timber would not be hard to do. I'd buy a Strat neck though...

I've been looking forward to this thread. Looks great. About as solid and no nonsense as guitars get, really. I like it when you see something that is so simple and that doesn't contain much more than the fundamentals of what makes things good, but still manages not to be artless or clumsy or unrefined.

A sidenote on The Creamery guitars- not sure I'd want a non-contoured JM. Also, look at the screws on this guitar- are any of them in straight?
