for $20 it can't hurt to take a punt, even if you only use it to annoy the neighbours.

It's almost impossible for me to annoy my neighbors. I don't know what's wrong with them, but they never complain.
but i CAN annoy my girlfriend!
Anyhoo, got it and am having fun. Definately fills my need for metal.
There's two outs, one for "amp" and one for "mixer". Definitely sounds way better on the mixer out. Less harsh. THough the amp out ould be fun for Judas Preist sorta stuff.
As far as the tone controls go, I can't imagine ever bringing the treble pot above maybe 4.
the "grunge" knob hardly does diddly squat.
over all i'm a happy metal boy

i remember when this came out in 92 and I had a dod classic fuzz and thought why the fuck should I get this shit, "the classic fuzz has a cool colour" and I need to save for a big muff (they didn't exist in the UK unless you bought a vintage pedal). In the UK at the time you had about 5 distortion/fuzz pedals to choose from, it was a sorry state of affairs. With such a famine it's no wonder booteek pedals took off the way they did.

The DOD FX69b version was my first pedal. It's good if you want your guitar to sound like a dieing cat yelping through a megaphone during a hurricane (well, maybe not that good). I also heard it can get some good JAMC tones.

GRUNGE GR-1 it is intended for enrichment of sounding of an electroguitar. GR-1 creates very powerful and rigid distortions surpassing in aggression almost all existing overdrives

True that. EHX did'nt exist here, in fact, when you look at what is available now by comparison its quite mind blowing.
Everyone seemed to use DS-1's but those that had a decent job used DS-2's,
posh bastards ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

The DOD Grunge was the first pedal I ever bought.
It was shiiiiiiiit. I have the enclosure gutted somewhere, I was going to put something else in there, back when I wanted to get into DIY stuff. That went nowhere.
Also, unrelated, this is my first post after lurking around in here for a long time. Hi errbody!

I had one of these beauts as my first dirt pedal:

Part of me wants to track one down as I
remember it sounding pretty gnarly.. although I'm sure its actually just fizzy horrible shit in reality. My last memory of it was figuring out and playing Blur's Song 2 with it just after I saw it on TOTP for the first time, digging it out of the cupboard for the RAUCOUS TONES. Bless.
