a tele has one of the best layouts for a guitar. if you hit shit on a tele you need to learn how to play half way decent. Even when I would thrash on my teles at shows, I never hit the switch or knobs.
I can play a strat or a jazzmaster because I like playing right over the bridge and with those guitars, I DO hit the knobs but not on a tele. Benecol is 100% right on everything he said.

I guess I'll have to stop playing until I learn not to get so bleeding carried away with myself then!

Try playing across the strings, instead of up and down them all the time. Do you just constantly do pickslides?
(even if you do keep twatting the switch, it's hardly the end of the world like it can be on a Jag - another mod is to gently bend the switchtip down about 30º - should sort even you out).

Yeah it's not a big issue, I was just being picky. I don't think it's my technique seen as it never happens when I'm playing at home, at band practices, recording etc... I think at gigs I just get overexcited and my arms flail about everywhere.

I like all telecasters. maple, rosewood, modern, vintage. I haven't played one I didn't like.
a good tele with a good rosewood neck is a beautiful thing.
