It's cool. We've sorted. I'm singing (and occasionally picking up a guitar) and we'll have another guitarist.

In reference to our conversation on Facebook yesterday, do you know the words though? :P

sure we could have got another band, but it wouldn't have been the same.

good stuff. they've asked if we'll do the may one, i'd like to but depends if CP can be persuaded to drive down. we'd need more gigs around it.

Sorry to ask Tim but do you happen to have any contacts for non-shit venues in London? I'm tired of playing the toilet circuit of Hope & Anchor/Dublin Castle/Water Rats/Good Ship et al and need to find some new places but don't really know where to start looking.

Heya Mark,
There's a few ways to do this, none of them that easy. Get your music reviewed by lots of small online zines by relentlessly badgering zine writers. Once the reviews are up you should get offered gigs. Don't waste tons of time recording, just go in and do it over a couple of days. Let girls in your band. Have a proper website as well as facebook/myspace with a well-written biog (get someone impartial to read it!) and photos. Stop playing the sort of gigs you mentioned. These are like kyptonite to good promoters. Host a few of your own shows- it's a bit of hard work, but can be rewarding. Check the sort of music you make is appropriate to the 'good' promoters you approach. Um.... that's all I can think of. All of this is opinion and probably wrong.
