FO sho.

I am hoping that is not the only colour. If there is a Sunburst with black/white guard I will pee myself with joy and buy.

It will be the perfect ugly fucking mustang.

SGJarrod wrote:I also find it funny that Ibanez explained their Jet King II's as "pawnshop chic" a copuple yrs ago and now Fender jumps on the band wagon
But it works for Ibanez. They used to make that sort of "pawnshop treasure" guitar, and the Jet Kings fit that description perfectly. The new Fender 51s are just a blatant attempt by Fender to sell a guitar that was previously available for literally a 6th or less of the price of these.

I really dig the mustang. I won't puke on my bone like Aen did though

I am back at work so I can't see the images anymore because photobucket is blocked.

Where are these guitars being made? MIM or MIJ? and do they list color options?

I almost like the '51 (other than the issue with price vs Squire), the '72 doesn't grab me at all, and the Mustang is intriguing.

I dislike the 9.5" radius and the bridge, but, it shouldn't be a big deal to upgrade it to a proper Mustang trem, and, I suppose use a Jag/Jazzy bridge to get the proper radius.
The pickups and switching options (yeah several are redundant) are of interest... though in/out of phase would be nice to have on there too.

At the right price, I'd lust after one... but they won't go for the right price :P

I would rock that Mustang, but once again, no lefty option. Thanks Fender. You bastards.

So everyone has the same Enforcer pickup, but the mustang just has a WRHB cover? that's bullshit. They don't even want to use their fake WRHB

they're not really WRHBs. they are "enforcer" pickups with a wide ranger style cover.

and of course they're 9.5" radius. these are not vintage reissues of any kind. they are new guitars, 9.5" radius and jumbo frets are the fender standard these days.

the mustang special is cool though. the strat hardtail is really not that bad. they should have cut a proper guard for it though, like we said in the other thread.
The new Pawn Shop series instruments draw inspiration from strange and storied pawn find of the 1960s and '70s, and emerge as all-new Fender guitars with a bold element of eccentricity.
wow, that was a nice steaming pile of invented nonsense BS.

Nailed it. I personally don't care for any of these, but I'm not violently against their existence. They have traditional (and some vintage-correct) releases of their most popular instruments, and the others can be found with great ease on the used market.

The original HC post has this information:
brianeharmonjr from HC wrote:'51 is in Black or Butterscotch Blonde
'72 is in 3-Tone Sunburst or Surf Green!
Mustang Special is in Lake Placid Blue or Candy Apple Red
I'm sure they'll be MIM. I don't think Fender's done any MIJ releases for the American market in quite some time.

I still want the Duo-sonic/fastback/special.

Mustang Special with replacement neck/ refret?

Not worth the effort I think. Also, humbuckers aren't my thing anyway.

Why can't they make a Squier Mustang, vintage specs, so we can all buy one, and each mod it, and compare results!?!?!?

Hang on, just thought of a good point to these releases...

Pickguard shops will begin selling customised '51 guards again. So I might bag one, get myself a cheap strat body and make a super-rockin' hardtail strat with a cool pickguard.
