Even if you're only looking at using a reverb or something, the addition of an EQ effect, volume boost or compressor are always super useful and generally get you that little bit closer to the "sound in your head".
Plus, loopers are a BRILLIANT practise tool if nothing else; not everyone uses them to be KT Tunstall or some other awful layering-up crap.
Buuuuut, you are the master of your own destiny.

One thing i want to know is how the m series functions with an expression pedal.
So for instance i wanted to have it set as a volume pedal and be able to swell into the delay/reveb sound. Can you set it so that it affects the volume pre delay or post delay?

Yep - you can decide which effect or effects (even which parameters of which effects) the exp pedal effects.

And I'm thinking that there's such models as a modulated reverb or a memory man style chorus delay?
Sound I really want are
Mod delay
Tape delay
Mod reverb
Spring reverb
Leslie
Straight chorus
And maybe a fifth up octave
I'm using my vox for wah, OCD for drive and a mxr boost for a global lead/volume boost.

Aye, it does the lot of them; I did you this quick 'sound demonstration' of the Leslie sound but it got buried underneath many other threads.

Rob, if you fancy mate, I can do a clean amp sim demo of all those effects if you fancy it, see how they size up for your tastes.

That'd be cool, thanks.
With the volume swell/delay thing, the sound I'm going for is like that incubus mike enzinger's sound on are you in.

I had a go on one of these on thursday. I decided against buying one... there's a lot I would never use and it just sounded incredibly digital to me which goes without saying really hahaa... I will give it another go certainly. Any m13/m9 users know if there is a preset that can cover micro pog type sounds and able to track multiple notes ?

Nah, you can use the Pitch Glide or Smart Harmony modes to give an octave up OR down, but not both. You could just feed one of these into another, but the tracking gets worse, and you end up using 2 effect positions.
The tracking is okay, but definiately not a MicroPOG killer. I did an quick demo because I'm aces:

Thanks Doog, much appreciated !!!
Yeah, I think I'll be keeping the micro pog... was just looking to kick something off the board to make space for this, but would probably make more sense to get rid of cs3 and pitchblack, or not buy one at all which I think is what I'm going to do.
The compressor sounded pretty nice, as well as the tremolo effects...
