Yep, and it was the Champion lapsteel that brought us pretty much the tele unit.

Look at the pickups on this thing... hopefully Cooder didn't butcher any during the nu-metal fad.

One time I got this bizarre spam email from a self identified female saying "I made out with a chick and got mono."

I replied to it, asking, "If you made out with two chicks, would you have gotten stereo?"

Perhaps this is where the DuoSonic name comes from, it's like making out with two chicks at once.

No, making out with two chicks at once is called "college".

String-through pickups such as the Supro/Valco/National pickups are legends among the realm of guitar pickups. Looking like humbuckers yet in essence are single-coil in design have that much sought-after unique growl. An example of a guitar that had this distinction is the so-called "Coodercaster" (calm down. . . it's named after slide guitarist Ry Cooder. . . HEY CALM DOWN). The Lollar Supro Steel Guitar Pickup packs that sound as the original string-through Supros dictate.

I bet he installed the Lollar because of stability reasons, a standard singlecoil wont hold very well in the croc pickguard.. 8)

Not sure it that is a cover like we think of a pickup cover - not sure you can remove it - the strings go through the pickup - weird - and funky!
That's a Ry Cooder-design pup for resophonic and other slide playin tones. BTW, this "Cooder-Sonic" is a legendary axe. I inquired to buy a year ago and the price is pretty far from resaonable....ya gotta just pay the passion price or admire from a distance.
