You're probably slamming the input of the ECT. It doesnt have a whole lot of headroom, which is why the "trim" is on there. You could also dial that back, and see if the booster works better for you.
I run all of my modulation effects after it quite happily. A green ringer behind it is also nusto splatty mental awesome.sp3k wrote:The ect is my last dirt pedal in the chain, and when having a dirt pedal that has lots of bass into it makes it "weaker", this also happens when the pedals before it are cutting some of the guitars volume.
The ect sounds better with more bright and treably pedals before it, a reverb before it also sounds really good. i don't think it sounds good with anything after, maybe a booster just for a bit more volume, but that's it.
I've had a hell of a time figuring out where to put my MicroSynth. I have it before all drive shit, but I'm thinking some light compression before it will give it a more consistent level for triggering.aen wrote:I have my microsynth after the ECT/hair of the dog/baby thundaa. That sucks. Defo going to correct that when my new pedalbaord arrives (TONIGHT!) But then I have delays and reverb after that, too.
I haven't been using the sweep (so far) just the octave and squarewave effects. But the fuzz before just turns it into a shit show.ekwatts wrote:A compressor before a microsynth is pretty much a necessity. I don't think it really works properly without it. I use it first in the chain set to just an octave up with a huge filter range and low trigger and run that through the French Toast. Sounds really, really good for lead sounds.
I was talking about other dirt after it, i only use reverb before, everything else is after. My mistake.endsjustifymeans wrote:I run all of my modulation effects after it quite happily. Interesting. I've got the POG2 before the MS for crazy filtered Rhodes sounds, but the other way around would be pretty killer too.ekwatts wrote:Pretty much nothing at all works before the MS apart from a compressor. Same with the POG. The way I view it is that the POG and MS fundamentally change the sound of the guitar, so they're sort of like instruments of their own so they always sit at the start of the chain. My board is currently like this: Microsynth > POG > Bass booster > French Toast > Flanger > Delay > Reverb.
I would try a bass big muff if i were you. I've played both many times, and the bass big muff is really great. Actually is my favorite current electro harmonix muff.ekwatts wrote: (which I may be replacing with a Tone Wicker Big Muff in a few days)
What pedal board are you getting?aen wrote:I have my microsynth after the ECT/hair of the dog/baby thundaa. That sucks. Defo going to correct that when my new pedalbaord arrives (TONIGHT!) But then I have delays and reverb after that, too.
That info helps. I will try the trim knob and flipping the pedal order when I get home. It's cool when the pedal maker can diagnose the problem for you.aen wrote:You're probably slamming the input of the ECT. It doesnt have a whole lot of headroom, which is why the "trim" is on there. If I can put the cat on it, yes.Doog wrote:Despite my M9 making most distortion pedals redundant for me, the Eau Claire Thunder is still on my list.
Aen, will you make one all special for your ol' pal Dewg?
