The forearm contour was one of the major draws for me, but the body is just too tiny. I'm 6'2" and 230. It looked like a ukelele on me.

Sorry for being such a pedant, but the people have gotta know the difference!
I don't know. What's the difference?
Coil split: Use one pickup from a humbucker split
Coil tap: a second wire in the windings lets you switch between the full winding and an area that's less-wound.
So you're saying 4-wire vs. 3-wire?

You can have a coil split that is 3 wire.
It'd be dumb, but it's possible.

Wow - good eye! I hadn't noticed that before.

Whoa, huge difference.
Not really a fan of the Pawnshop Series, in terms of looks anyway...

I'd hit it. I'd much rather bang this against the ground than my 78 stang.

I haven't played one yet but I quite like them. It's a nice variation on the jagmaster idea. It's good they realised the mustang switches are too high and did something about it.

I really didn't like them until I saw them in person. They are very well finished and look and feel very nice. I don't like Mustangs generally because the body isn't thick enough for such a wide body, but these seem better proportioned.

Maybe they are not keeping up with the mesures they have, but just trying to invade some young punker market,na?
With these guitars, that why smaller ?
I like the color, but I just would love a maple stang with the widerangers.
That will be my next dream I will fulfill.

To be honest, I'm not sure why they went with a smaller body. Maybe it was just to do something a bit different, which would be in keeping with the spirit of the line. Hopefully, the parts are compatible across the different models - just as the MIJ / CIJ bodies and necks can be used with the vintage USA ones. Maybe they didn't want Mexico to be doing "real" Mustangs and it was a case of "internal company politics" between Fender US, Fender Japan and Fender Mexico. Who knows? I have no idea... I can't say for sure because I have yet to see / play one in person, but I think I'd have preferred the post '69 vintage contoured style bodies.

Interested enough to get one used in a couple of years or on closeout...

I love the look of them but I am pretty damned sure the body will feel like a toy to me with the smaller dimensions.

I am pretty sure that they are made in Mexico - and that the parts are not interchangeable with other Mustangs, from what I have read.
I wonder if there are p-90s that would fit in the humbucker route?

A P94 might fit in there.

I misspoke - I meant to say I am pretty sure they are
NOT made in Mexico. - Made in Japan is what I have read FWIW.

Aaah - I checked a bit, and it appears that you're correct: The entire Pawnshop series is indeed made in Japan. I don't know why I was thinking they were made in Mexico.

The forearm & belly contour don't flow together as one. The red finish is hawt in person. The blue is a bit stale. The body shape didn't bother me in person. I liked it, but not $799 liked it.
I liked the Squire $299 Jags. Hated em over the internet, cause of the strat jack hole... in person the strat jack looks punked on the guitar. They were a bit heavy though. I'd buy one for the kids when they get older.
I liked the hardtail blacked out Jag w/ dual humbuckers the mostest
