I have a Saltbooster which is a great pedal - makes things fat heavy and loud!
I also have a Zvex SHO and this adds a really nice sparkle.

I don't have any experience with any completely transparent boosts. I really like what the salt boost does to my clean tone, it makes it bigger all around not just louder.

The internet can also be used as a boost, a brutal one though that can get a bit out of hand if you let it. good fun though

I tweaked the Saltbooster from the LPB-1 basis to sound better on my guitars, which for years have all had single coils (and often vintage ones), this might be why some are getting some unwanted extra bass with humbuckers - I can always tweak for buckers if that's what people like also.

I have actually been using the EHX Germanium OD (a highly underrated pedal that most don't seem to properly understand) as a post-overdrive boost lately and it rips. There's an amp-blowing amount of gain on tap, and i use the Volts/Bias controls to add a bit of lo-fi grit to the boost as well. These can be had for cheap on the used market, as a lot of folks don't seem to get on well with it. It colors the sound a bit more than a traditional clean boost (for obvious reasons), but I'm not exactly playing a '54 Strat into a Keeley Tube Screamer and Vibro King amp to my dog on the weekends here and can't be bothered to give a shit.

I also have an LPB-1 and it works exactly as I had imagined by simply giving more clean volume. I have no reference relative to the Micro Amp or Mike's Salt Booster, but it's cheap and does what you'd expect.

Aye. If you imagine sitting in a busy but not overly loud bar chatting to someone and you can clearly hear them talking at a normal level, having the Saltbooster engaged is the difference between that, and the person breaking your nose.

Bought a LPB-1, got it in the post yesterday and it does exactly what I wanted... adds a bit of clarity to cleans a bit of grit to when you drive the amp and drives my Sovtek Big muff mental when used together...

I didn't see the BYOC Triboost mentioned yet. That has a MOSFET booster on there that is really clean. It also has an LPB-1 that sounds great and a Germanium Treble Booster (that has a full mode too instead of just treble). I'm very very happy with it. I've also owned and used a MXR Micro Amp, Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster, and ZVex Super Hard On. The Triboost is by far my favorite.

I prefered using this as a boost when compared to my Saltbooster. From what i remember it seemed to cut through better and had a really good EQ section.
Might try and track one down over the coming weeks.

Had a look at one of those, but went for the LPB-1

I had a clone of a ZVEX Super Hard On. That was probably my favorite boost that I've owned.
