Yeah I move to Scarborough on the 17th! It's my own lazy fault for not coming to see you already to be honest. I'm pretty sure I can get a direct train to Leeds anyway... or you could come to Scarborough with it's thriving music scene.

Still available to order from the links above and also from the lovely lovely folks at Norman Records.
Julian Cope said some nice words:
"Meanwhile, there’s a fabulous’n’gleaming tumult building over in the Reviews Section as Leeds quintet Hookworms’ 12 EP comes to yet another climax on the Head Heritage stereo. Damn, it’s been heavy rotazione this past month or watt? Released on Gringo Records, this 4-track release is an epic 26 minutes of sub-ZABRISKIE POINT ambient road-movie heat haze-on-the-road sonic wipeout of the post-Loop variety, and propelled by an elliptical ‘Fender bass’ player from the Michael Henderson soul school. Swee-ee-eet. All of this is infused with such urging’n’urgent almost Ray Charlesean vocal MC-ings from their singing keyboardist MJ that these three dronehead guitarists become Lynyrd’s Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and Ed King to his Duane Allman. Whew! That said, these two near classic sides of vinyl were highly aided by the canny juxta positionings of the songs’ order, both sides designed to plateau then rise then plateau then rise, on and on and fucking on. Do not miss this Shoegazing Skynyrd, brothers’n’sisters."
NME (lolol) gave us their 'tip of the day':
"I think Leeds is on fire right now. Eagulls, Spectrals, Wet Nuns, Heart Ships…there are LOADS of great bands from there or thereabouts, and today's tip Hookworms should most definitely be added to that list.
I've waxed lyrical about Peaking Lights before, but I can't help but draw comparison to them and this fivepiece. This is no bad thing, and if you're in Manchester on December 10 I'd urge you to check them both out, on the same bill, at the Deaf Institute. Cool gig, that.
Anyway, back to Hookworms. One of them plays in Spectrals, but they sound nothing like the fragile output Louis Jones specialises in. They're all about eight-minute wig-outs, but there's a punkiness to their stuff that sets them apart from the sea of fellow psych-wannabees right now. Check out the gobbiness of the second track here, called 'Teen Dreams', for instance"
COOL SHIT. We are all incredibly greatful of the money and effort Gringo and Faux Discx have put into this release, please help them break even! Cuddles will be sent to anyone who buys one

Love it. Fits well with the stuff I'd listen to in 1970+ (e.g. Gong "Camembert Electrique", Pink Floyd "Meddle")
