Thats a lovely set up ^

Id post pics of mine but currently its just a computer, yamaha keyboard with a midi->usb cable, mbox and akg condenser.

I noticed a couple of you guys have the M-audio studiophiles, how do you find them?
I've heard your usually better off with expensive headphones rather than cheap monitors, but ive been hearing good things about them.

They are pretty good for the coin. They are my pick for a budget monitor, $100 bucks and they sound great. Keep them out of corners though, they can be a bit boomy. I actually moved my desk out of the corner because of this.

Current Recording setup: I also use an old Mbox 2 going into Garageband.

various guitars and effects thru a Line 6 POD in some sort of clean setting.
E-MU midi controller and Yamaha FB-01 either thru effects pedals or straight in.

It's all a bit messy but this is my current set up.

Yeah, I designed it to go on a flat bit of wall rather than in the corner like it is now, does the job though.

A very cozy 9'x11' place, but is just right for the work I do.

Goodness that was a long time ago.

I honestly don't remember, and by Fall 2011 the whole office got new chairs.

I probably could have cleaned up a little to make it look all neat and legit, but who am i kidding? It's usually a disgusting mess.

An impromtu "studio" of mine:

For the last song i did this is what i used at my house. I will get some pics of the real studio when i get back in there. I forgot to get pics of the guitars and bass i used so i will do that tonight. The ravish sitar has 2 outputs so i ran them into two different amps. The small clone is running to only one amp and it is on the sympathetic strings and the lead out is running straight into the mesa. I used one mic though at different distances to make it sound distant at times. The only thing before the ravish sitar was the unpleasant companion. I fucking love that pedal! It's killler. It was ridiculous when i turned it on because then both outs had the fuzz on them and it was perfect madness.

Had a great session this weekend. Used most of this..

Got a slight update on my original pic... I'm now using an Alesis i02 which I bought cheap from a friend, and a Behringer C1 Condensor which was given to me for free by another friend. I like to keep it as simple as possible... and it really works well for me and sounds decent enough. Everyone comments nicely on my guitar sounds especially... which is what I really spent my time / money and effort on perfecting, which is nice. I swapped out the memory toy for a Boss RV3 a while back, and sold on the Superfuzz recently since this pic was taken... Still using garageband as well !! My recordings are definitely improving.

Nothing fancy, just a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 into garageband. I need to get some mics and upgrade to logic.

That saffire is fantastic.

The altec tube preamp in the pic i posted above is unreal. It breaks up like nothing else, esp. for vocals. It does the little richard sound when you push it or you can bring it up a bit to where it sounds like Dan Auerbach. I wasn't sure how Dan got his vocals but now i know. He uses the same one. If you set it to breakup early then you don't have to put out much and it sounds like you are and it sounds just like Dan. He doesn't sing really hard but lets the preamp do all the heavy lifting. If you crank it it's just ridiculous. It will do super heavy distorted vocals also like you are screaming through an old radio. My friend has tons of mics and it didn't really make a difference until he showed me clean vocals. It does clean well also and then you may want to use a better mic for those.

I put a picture of the mic he uses for guitar. Holy shit. It's a beast. Blew my mind. It's a Royer and i know he saved for a long time for one and i can hear why. Wow. The most unreal guitar mic i've heard by a mile. They are super expensive but they are amazing.
