that's clearly just a repro body with vintage parts. notice how the pickguard is square? not fender.
probably a one off.
oh?

right. that's a legit fender guitar. there's info about it and everything. i'm not saying there never were any.
i'm saying that all the parts on that musicmaster are vintage. the body and pickguard are custom.

might have been made for a NAMM or something before they launched it.

i've read many threads about that guitar before, and no one has ever been able to confirm it's existence as a legit piece or even back up it's illegitimacy. not that it's not, it just doesn't look like it. the neck plate's dated to 77 (iirc from the original auction), and the top horn seems wonky as thom's eye.
all the lucite pieces created for NAMM that i've read about were almost dead on to the originals, and most didn't even have pickguards. the fact that this one has atypical routes, non-lucite neck (maybe this was not feasible if the piece is indeed vintage), the non-yellowed body and that kindergarten pickguard makes me question it as a licensed guitar. i may be wrong, but those are my opinions.

That's what I thought all the lucite models were; one offs to show at conventions of already existing models or prototypes.
