Lookin' pretty swish, mate!

Neck just arrived from China. Considering I paid about £45 it's not half bad. I really like it. it's thin with jumbo frets and the maple looks rather nice in person. They even provide an allen key in a little case.

The headstock doesn't actually fall too far short of the template I'm going to be using and I'll be taking easily enough wood off the tuner side to be able to stick it on the end using some stupid strong wood glue. The wood grain will be hidden on the front, and I don't really care if anyone notices it on the back. Might be an idea to get some maple-coloured filler to ensure a nice smooth join, though.

Also, my rough pickguard template is shown in that pic, too. I've cut the shape out and overlaid a tracing of the route so I can properly plan where to put the electronics, though that's a fair way away yet.

What shape you planning on cutting it to?
I think a teardrop shaped 3 a side headstock would suit.
Maybe with THESE pear-buttoned Klusons?
THESE cheapo white buttoned copies?

Perfect symmetry might be difficult to achieve though?

Is that an Eden neck?

I too wondered if it's an eden. I kinda think you leave the headstock as is, that thing really looks like it was meant to serve double duty as a guitar and oar. You'd be fuckin with nature's design by changing it.

Went to B&Q today to pick up some screws for the neck. Considering it's one of the biggest B&Q's in the country its selection of screws was woeful. I ended up with some proper down-n-dirty wood screws, but they fit the plate and they work, even if they don't quite match the chrome.

DISASTER: As I was screwing the bigsby in the first screw snapped off, deep in the hole. FUCKSAKE. I can just move the trem a few millimetres to cover it up and start with new holes, but it's not a good start. Hopefully "Papa D's Music Store" have some spare screws.

Bit of a shame about the screws, maybe try a fastners specialist, you might be able to get stainless screws and polish them?
You're even more likely to get a machine screw of the right length and appropriate head, but you'd need them threaded inserts.
The screws that come with THIS kit might even be long enough? Might be worth asking questions, dimensions, wether they'll supply longer screws, etc?

Have you been jumping around the house, strumming the non existent strings, pulling rock faces, playing the rockingest silent songs you never heard?
