Offered in both left- and right-handed editions (Cobain preferred the former), models will also feature a “triple knurled chrome dome knob configuration, black chrome Adjusto-Matic bridge and Stratocaster headstock shape with “‘50s-style spaghetti logo. Or, in plain English, similar options and details as were native to Cobain’s own pride and joy.
on a replica of a '65 jag?

Oh my, facepalm.

Was it his pride and joy? I'm guessing he used it as a workhorse and beater and didn't really give a shit.

They should have released a sig version of his black strat with the sticker on it. Fender can't resist signature strats

Priced at $1,849.99, the Kurt Cobain Jaguar aims to replicate the legendary singer-songwriter’s signature road-worn axe in minute detail, down to its custom controls, dog-eared aesthetic and visible wear and tear. Sporting an aged finish and dual DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion and PAF DP-103 36th anniversary humbucking pickups, plus bound rosewood fretboard with pearloid position inlays, it hopes to replicate the actual instrument’s look and feel.

uhhhhhh... if they want a true Teh Kurtdz Jaguar, they'd have to make it at least 1/4 the price. The reason he got them is because they were cheap and available, right?
but that's not why others want one.

Bl00z was poor people originally too don't forget, and now it's sort of the exact opposite when it comes to gear anyway. With this it stands out because they picked a particular artist and guitar to copy.

If they were to do something like make Seasick Steve's crappy Slide guitar with the missing strings and sell it for $2000 it would be particularly amusing.

For fuck's sake, why don't they release the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Comp-Stang replica instead. That was a much cooler guitar.

Kurt's Equipment page wrote:It looks like this guitar actually had 3 strap buttons, the odd-placed one being on the other horn (15). The straplocks on this were Schallers, but initially they were rubber washers from Grolsch beer bottles. To quote Earnie from Chris' FAQ, "He NEVER polished the thing! It was disgusting. "Lithium" video it hits the stage hard (seen 46). In Rio (seen 13) it gets soaked in cantaloupe juice and seeds
I can already see the fanboys complaining that it doesn't have a superflous third strap lock, or have the authentic grolsh beer bottle caps, and the fact that they have to soak it in cantaloupe juice themselves to get teh authentic kurdtz.

+1
Don't think he'd have been happy with this tho' - why don't they just reissue the jagstang as he wanted it ie, body contours etc.

That would actually have been a good idea.... with genuine JB etc..
--------
I think his real all round favourite was the standard Japanese humbuckered Mustang.

Nothing like that on the market off the shelf... & could have been pretty affordable.

The jags, jazzs have had a lot of attention, not so much the stangs.

Well the Pawn Shop might be kind of close. Did he use the Trem much on his geetars?

I cant believe i just read this thread. At $1,849.99? someone is missing the point here. The guy was a Punk kid with battered gear, a questionable set-up and a lack of interest for his equipment that he abused regularly.
Have we reached the point of Kurdtz Lawyers now?

As much as bl00z lawyers drive me nuts, lawyers can be pretty cool.

This Jag is the Cobain guitar, IMO, and the best job Fender have ever done paying tribute to him. You'd save so much time in a quest to emulate Cobain just having a Jag like that vs. a Mustang.

He bought his Jaguar at the same time as the Compstang, and unlike the stang it was already modified (TOM and buckers). He likely assumed this was normal for the Jaguar as he reserved his Nevermind-era "this bridge design sucks" remarks for the Mustang.
His Competition Stang went largely unmodified for awhile and he primarily liked it for the neck/looks, quickly giving up on it as a stage guitar. I think it's clear he preferred the balance, pickup and bridge of his Jag, but don't take my word for it:

...nor should you ever use the phrase "whatever's simplest" to Fender. It'll only ever lead to wonky bods and strat jacks that shouldn't be.

I don't think Kurt liked Mustangs all that much... probably just the necks. He wouldn't use them without heavily modifying them, otherwise they'd draw attention to themselves and he'd smash them. He smashed the neck pocket straight off the compstang's body in '91, smashed his Ferrington stang, requested the MIJ Stangs to smash for In Utero encores before Earnie Bailey talked him out of it... that Jaguar was spared a direct destruction attempt, though he did bang it around a lot as he treated all of his guitars like shit.
