NSGD (Squier content)
Here's my latest acquisition, a 1983 Japanese made SQ series Strat, nice vintage 7'25" radius and factory Alnico pickups.

That looks AMAZO!! I bever seem to be in the right place/time for a good Japanese Strat.71Smallbox wrote:Here's my latest acquisition, a 1983 Japanese made SQ series Strat, nice vintage 7'25" radius and factory Alnico pickups.

There's a guy I met at the Open mic night in Swansea who has 4 and didn't pay over £100 for any of them on eBay. That said, the one he had with him had a horrible power-sander relic job even if it sounded good and played well.Thomas wrote:That looks AMAZO!! Wow, I guess if I'm meant to find one I will. There was a dude selling a 62ri neck on evilbay last week.I made him an offer but he refused it. He was asking too much though. Another £50 and you could get a complete Japanese strat.
It's a shame too cos it was local, on the other hand I spent the money on Mages MM neck so it worked out for the best.

Thanks, at first I was slightly hesitant about it because of the wear on the fretboard, but now I think it adds character, and is a testament to the fact that this guitar plays and sounds so well, it got played to fuck.dkoor wrote:I love SQ Japanese series as I'm fond of 70s Strats.
Some guys don't like big headstocks, but me likes.
This particular white specimen is awesome.

I love Fenders with BIG headstocks, I only have ones that have that feature, Jag, JM and this one.

Amazing guitar! I'm restoring/building one right now.71Smallbox wrote:Here's my latest acquisition, a 1983 Japanese made SQ series Strat, nice vintage 7'25" radius and factory Alnico pickups.

I have visually similar model AVRI 70s in sunburst with maple neck.71Smallbox wrote:Thanks, at first I was slightly hesitant about it because of the wear on the fretboard, but now I think it adds character, and is a testament to the fact that this guitar plays and sounds so well, it got played to fuck.dkoor wrote:I love SQ Japanese series as I'm fond of 70s Strats.

I think that SQ has similar finish to my axe it's urethane or poly (?).
And of course when that wears off that maple with darken, but IMHO it doesn't hurt the looks, like you said it adds to the character.
And of course for it to happen naturally that axe must have been played A LOT

All in all, I have a sweet spot for these axes... I thought to get myself MiJ RI72 Strat or SQ series but lately I figured that my GAS for offset and good tube amp is bigger.
