I'm a traitor lefty, learnt to play righty, denying myself the eternal fun of trying to find good guitars left-handed.

Why the fuck can't they just let Fender Japan start importing back into the US so I can get a lefty Tele with a rosewood fretboard?

What the fuck are you talking about? Where is the link to the lefty rosewood tele, cuz I don't see it in the original post and no real information was posted to this thing.

Lefties don't deserve a Custom Tele because if it's left-handed it's already custom.

Mansons have the Tele and 60s Strat on order. They are going to ring me as soon as they are in. Yes.

Nice. I really cannot believe Squier are going to be doing this. I have neither the money to afford these or any way to justify owning any, but I might well get the Tele down the line. If the Mascis Jazz (assuming it's CV) were to come out lefty, I'd have to jump on that. Seems unlikely, but any lefty CVs seemed unlikely.

I think it's deserved though. If a left handed player wanted a Tele but was on a budget, they would have to break the bank a little because the cheapest one's available are the Mex Fenders at around £450. I don't think that's value for money, personally. I don't see why lefties aren't able to have a real budget Tele. I've modded the shit out of my Mex Tele so I'd love a Squier standard now....

Up until now, the only left-handed Squier available was some horrible Strat. Don't think I've ever seen a left handed Squier Tele.

Boab, I think the Mascis jm will be part of the artists series and not the cv's like the Simon Neil strat was, looking at the RRP it seems to indicate this is the case

I agree absolutely. When I wanted a Tele to mess around with I was considering just getting an upside down Squier, but the shape of the body really would not lend itself to this. Obviously. Eventually I found a lefty Tanglewood Tele for cheap locally. It played well enough, and our drummer ended up using it now.

And Lorez, you're probably right. Likely to use the same bodies as the Squier Jags and Jazzs, or is that a shite guess?

I played the 60s strat at lunchtime today and was very pleased with what I found. Finish was great and the neck felt lovely and glossy like my japanese guitars. Was the first time I have played a Fender with anything other than a 7.25" radius so that was a bit funny, but I play my LP all the time so the flatter fretboard wasn't bad just unusual for a Fender. Rosewood was a bit dry, but easily fixed. Tuners seemed decent too.
Pup covers were aged white which I thought was a nice touch. Pickups themselves were a bit weak for my liking, but then I have got a 21k bridge pup in my Jag...they didn't sound bad in any case. If it was anything other than sunburst I would probably get one.
Looking forward to trying the Tele when it arrives.

Cross posting from the other thread about these.

I figured I'd follow up to show why exactly I'm pissed.

http://www.fender.com/products/index.ph ... PerPage=24

Look at that. That's the only 13 Fender's I can get.

I can get:

1. Strat with rosewood fretboard
2. Strat with maple fretboard
3. Tele with maple fretboard

At varying price points, and that includes the Squier line, and these guys here.

To reiterate, in case anyone missed this part:
Man, fuck you, Fender

Don't know how this slipped under the radar, but..... Squier Affinity Tele

Saw this in my local guitar shop at lunchtime. Not sure if I'd buy one myself, I'd rather wait til the CV's start coming into stock. For £155 you can't grumble though.

I'd still probably mod the shit out of it though :?

I played the Tele today and I have to say it was really really good. Better than the Strat. Am pretty sure I'm going to get one, just need to find something to trade in for it. The bridge pup was a little weak but then I've always wanted to try a BKP Piledriver...
