Wouldn't it be worth trying to get the guard whilst you are in Japan? Surely the guitar is worth more with than without, and it'll be easier/cheaper to get in Japan than America? Or are they really that rare that you won't be able to?
Seriously rare items those guards, not so much rocking horse poo rare, more unicorn poo rare.

Rumour has it they were only on a batch of faulty Edge trems to start with at the factory, but then the designed changed before they were public and for some reason left on the LNGs -- or so a serious JEM freak acquaintance of mine tells me.

JJ, you must do a demo of it with Dave's Great Global Destroyer when you get that pedal :wink:

That's very true. The guards also come on floral jems i believe. The owner lost the guard, or "palm rest" and can't find it. I'd rather he lost the guard than the signature though. I'm still searching on yahoo auction for the guard, but it's doubtful it will come up.
