That replaced speaker in there looks like a vintage Celestion with a Calsbro sticker over it. It could be a Greenback or Blackback! Get the codes off of the cone and we'll be able to determine which it is.

Picking this up tomorrow evening. The seller, unsurprisingly, said he had some offers over £200, so it's awesome he's still selling it to me.

When I bought my 1969 Carlsbro 50 Top for a killer price the guy who sold it to me said that he had a load of other people after it but he sold it to me as I was the only person who asked what it sounded like rather than what condition it was in.

That Carlsbro is a very cool looking amp. Remember seeing pics of it before.

I think it's solely because we made a deal last night that he's still selling to me, but whatever. I'm not gonna complain!

Also, what are the valves you put in the Bugera v55hd? I've stillgot the originals lying about too. It sounds awesome, and I couldn't be happier with it.

I think the pre-amp valves were Tung Sol and the power valves were JJ, they probably say on them what they are though.

I spotted your post in the classifieds, be careful selling all your stuff before you have the amp. Like UlricvonCatalyst I also emailed the dude when the ad went up but never heard anything back from him. Then last night when I got out of work I had 2 messages frome him. The first telling me to get in touch if I still wanted it and if I could pick it up last night and the second saying that he had just sold it to someone for £300.

Seems well dodgy.

Got the amp now! He put a couple of valves in just to show it worked, and the condition is nowhere near as bad as it looks in pics.

Said he'd had over 50 emails about it tonight alone, and that people were offering over £300. Can't believe it was only £190! And yet it's the second most expensive bit of guitar related gear I've bought.

I'll get pics and info up when I get a chance.

I got one of these for £315 a couple of months back. It had after market speakers which is cool because the ones fender used in that era have a bad reputation. They are fantastic amps, The Vibrato sounds amazing as does the reverb.

You had a Bugera v55hd at one point too didn't you? I think that and this Twin will be my two amps now.

OK. I'm kinda low on funds at the moment, so I might get it serviced in the future but not at the moment. I'm looking at getting these preamp tubes:

2 x JJ Ecc81/12AT7
4 x JJ Ecc83s/12AX7

£50 shipped from Hot Rox UK. Are these decent options? Worth going fown the NOS route or will it just cost too much more to be justifiable? Should I get the JJs off eBay?

After looking into stuff, it seems I'll only need 4 preamp valves. I don't need the vibrato effect so nothing needs to go in v5, and I'm only gonna use the vibrato channel, so no need for anything in v1. The latter option adds a bit more gain/distortion to the vibrato channel apparently, which I quite like the idea of.

From Hot Rox, I'm leaning towards 2 EH 12AX7s and 2 JJ 12AT7s, for £35 and with a free clip on tuner. The JJ 12AX7s seem to be glitchily overpriced or something there at the moment.
