As far as the original guitar, the site says it's a refinish, so now that we have that out of the way... :)

Fender never had a color called "coral" on any of their color sheets or in any of their catalogs, price lists, etc. They DID make guitars in just about any DuPont color - even if it wasn't "on the chart", so it is possible that if a car used the color and it was available from DuPont, there are some "salmon pink" and "coral pink" guitars out there with factory finishes, but the vast majority of guitars that have factory finishes and are "that color" are faded Fiesta Red. And yes, Fiesta red can indeed fade that much... I've seen vintage ones that were even a bit more faded out that that one...

Even when it's freshly sprayed, Fiesta Red isn't a super dark or "red" color. It has a lot of pink and orange to it... as it ages, UV light breaks down the red pigment in the paint (red is the most photosensitive color) and the guitar gets progressively lighter. It's also a "variable" color, as has already been mentioned, and it will photograph / appear differently depending on the angle of the photo, the lighting, etc.
