@Everyone: Thanks for the gear compliments. You guys are awesome. Loving this forum so far.

@Pens: Yes! The MM should be everyone's ideal guitar. I'll have to look for pics of yours, assuming they're in the sticky.
Well, mine is only posted in the Projects section right now as I just finished building it. It was created from scratch as I've never ever seen a left handed MM. I made it with just a bridge bucker rather than the single neck, everything else is from a MM design.

Here it is with my son's Cyclone.

Oh it's like a lefty Vista MM. Cool.

@Everyone: Funny how you all love the finish on the MM. I love it too, but it's absolutely beat to hell. For me, it's part of the attraction. Close up to follow. Oh, and one more thought. The MM is an absolute player. Wish you all could take it for a spin. Then again, I wish I could check out all of your gear IRL as well. Fucking virtual reality.
I'm sure the will be a meet near you soon, check the pub for the ALBQ thread

Yes, except it's actual 24" scale with an A width neck.

So it's like a more better lefty Vista MM.

For reals, though, I would bend over sideways for a Vista MusicMaster Bass.

i love the musicmasters, but that color looks like piss. same with the jag. i wish i could say i was colorblind.

great collection though.
LOL, thanks. Yes, I never thought I'd own a yellow guitar. It's what makes it so 70s, though. I call it "chicken yellow."

Even if I hated the color (which I don't), I would still have bought the MM just for the neck.

I'll admit though, I don't like the yellow and red next to each other. Reminds me of ketchup and mustard. I generally keep them in separate places so I can forget how badly they clash.

right, but it's not actually yellow.

it's white. right?

That is some hot shit. Love it. Yes, it must be tough as a lefty to love MM's. The bridge bucker is a great idea, really curious as to how that will sound. Is it a Duncan, or...?

I wish I had some luthier skills, I would build every guitar I ever wanted.

Your son's Cyclone is also very nice, albeit I much prefer the MM bridge.

it's white. right?
LOL, which guitar are we talking about?

Yes, the Jag is Oly white but has become yellowed. The lighting and poor iPhone camera exaggerate the yellowing a bit. But no doubt, it is no longer Oly.

I was referring to the MM, which is pure yellow. The "yellowed" Jag is intentionally between to keep the pure yellow and red apart. Sorry for the confusion.

i didn't know they made them in yellow. i thought they were just olympic white that had yellowed.

Yeah, I thought yellow was never actually a Fender color, but it was a severely yellowed white. Though what he's saying makes sense, the Jag is a better representation of Oly white with a yellowed clear coat. I'm not really certain what that MM actually is. Singlepup, what color is it under the pickguard? That usually is the original color, since it's protected from UV rays that yellows nitro.

well, yeah, the jag is going to be more accurate, it has a clearcoat of poly over it.

Oh damn me, I didn't notice the Jag was an AVRI.

The MM is possibly Oly but more yellowed. I'd like to see what's under the pickguard.

Huh. After looking around at MM color schemes, I realized you're definitely right.

I never would have guessed that because mine looks so damn yellow. Not a trace of Oly White left. I just always assumed they made a few in yellow.

Stupid me! Thanks for clearing that up!

I would like to check it out for you, but all of the screws have completely rusted and I'm afraid to mess with it. Likewise, the tuning pegs are rusted. Not sure I'll be able to keep this thing "all original" forever, but trying to do so for now.

I was checking out some other MM's just now, and it seems that yes, the Oly white often does yellow as severely as mine:
http://vintagefenders.weebly.com/musicmaster-iis.html

I think it's safe to say HotRod is right, we got ourselves an Oly white egg hatched into a yellow chicken.

Is all cool. Lots of now common Fender colors are yellowed/faded versions of the original colors. The originals were only Dakota Red, Daphne Blue (I think), and Oly White. From those fading and yellowing we ended up with Sonic Blue, Fiesta Red, Old Oly white, and so on.

Still, yours has some soul, keep it on. And check out the ALBQ thread, would be awesome to get as many people down there as possible and pics taken.

Hells yes, the faded color is part of the charm. I hope to keep this one around a long, long time.

By the way, that website in my last post has some pretty amazing guitars. I kinda hate that "Joe" fella right about now.

Heading over to check out the ALBQ now. Thanks Pens.
