THE SUPER SONIC IS PERFECTLY BALANCED WHEN YOU MOVE THE BUTTON TO THE UPPER HORN WHEN IT IS FLIPPED TO IT'S PROPER ORIENTATION, IE LEFT HANDED.

Before my MM, it was my most comfortable and balanced guitar. If only it had the controls in the right spot and the neck from my Jaguar, it would have been perfect.

Strat jack on the back is great idea for cable through strap loop folks like me

I have to say that strat jacks look just fine aesthetically on strats. I think they balance out the look of a strat.

Pens oh my pens, did you ever try the Ibanez ORM guitar? That was somewhat inspired by Omars flipped supersonic I would guess. Never tried one meself but I'm well up for a Jag shape but with a smaller body. Find the bodies a little large and planky feeling if I'm honest, much as i fucking love the jag look.

Absolutely. I have no problem with the appearance of a strat jack, even on guitars that aren't strats. My only problem with them is that I don't find them to be as reliable as regular jacks. I've had to resolder my own strat jacks at least once on the 3 strats that I have, and on most of my students' strats that have them. The only guitars I've ever had to fix for my students have been strats, and it's always the input jacks. And I have no doubt that it's because of the jacks always coming loose and wiggling around and wiring getting disconnected as a result. I've always found that input jacks wear out the fastest and need to be touched up from time to time, but Strats, in my experience need to have the input jacks fixed up more often than any of the other guitars I've owned, and on all my students' guitars as well.

I've got an ORM and it's a great little guitar for the price. The neck is a little wider than I usually would like, but no big deal. I did have to move the strap button to the upper horn though as there is serious neck droop with it on the neck plate.

Yeah the neck width (from reading the specs) is definitely wider than I'd go for but then again playing might show it's no deal breaker. WIll pick one up one day. I'm getting ever closer to doing a Benecol and just bite the bullet to either build/have built something to my preferred specs - there's no guitar that has it all right now that I have found.

Yeah that's definitely a good thing to do. I got a Les Paul built for myself a couple of years ago and it was really nice to be able to spec everything. It's perfect for what I wanted from that guitar and that's a really strange feeling!

No. As typical, they aren't available in left-handed in the US. Nothing ever is.

One day when I find the balls to try cutting my own bodies from blanks, a Supersonic clone with a normal neck is the first item on the list to make. My next "project" will be to do that.

This is how my Musicmaster ended up. It's exactly how I've always wanted a guitar to be. Light bodied and easy to move around like my SuperSonic, perfect neck like my Jaguar, and the most perfect bridge ever created. It is indeed a strange feeling, every guitar up until now has been a series of compromises, but this one isn't for once.

graoss. a control plate mounted output jack is just as functional as an extra recessed hunk of metal that is only attractive on a stratocaster.

and if you take those tiny little screws out that hold the main plate on too many times, you strip the little buggers out.

and yes, that is me in the picture.

I tighten Strat jacks by unscrewing them, holding the nut in place with a wrench, and spinning the jack behind with my fingers.

That's not particularly a problem for me. Besides, I've never really had a problem with loose jacks. I also always replace the jack on my guitars with a nice Switchcraft jack.

Shops can also import Fender Japan stuff into Canada. Shops in the US cannot.

The lefty version of that guitar is not available in the US. US != Canada. I might be able to locate one in a shop in Canada and have it shipped down for a big fee, but there's zero chance of me being able to find one in a shop to try out.

The US is a fucked up market. They do not sell left handed anything here.
