He gets the piss taken because he takes the piss.

Came here with the intention of drumming up business rather than being a forum member. Posted the same massive post, with his bizarre, I'm so amazing this is my first ever neck and I can't believe how good I am, now please buy from me, spiel, in every single forum. And then when he was called out for spamming, went on the attack rather than backing down and saying sorry, then capped it off with "I'm a christian how dare you criticise me".

Since then he has posted in that mad style, only recently sorting out the photos, and been a dick about it every time somebody complained. He posts the same things (albeit to different necks) over and over again in an effort to advertise his business, he has even openly said he has no interest in the rest of the forum only posting his stuff and then acted surprised that he didn't get encouraging comments like the ones people get when they post their own project threads.

I've no idea why his thread isn't in the whorehouse, just because nobody is buying doesn't mean he isn't trying to sell. Its the same kind of thing as the Mike or Tim or Haze or Dwarfcraft whorehouse thread. Accept those guys didn't pitch up one day spam ever single forum about how they've 'only made one pedal but it was so amazing that they must have been born to solder' They proceed to post hundreds of massive gut shots of the same pedal over and over while moaning about not being given a pat on the back every time they do.

His work his excellent no doubt but I wouldn't want any of my money ending up in his pocket. He is a clown hence the mockery.

But that's just me.

I think you've put that all quite well. He probably should have a whorehouse thread considering he's doing it as a business and not contributing anywhere else on the forum.

Nick wrote:Don't know about everyone else but I am getting pretty annoyed at opening threads that Paulk1 isn't even involved with and having to sift through posts about how Paulk1 would think it needed blocks and binding, or something like that.

I just don't get it. Comes across as harassment and is pretty unnecessary. Before Paulk1 came along there were quite a few people who openly said they preferred guitars to have B&B necks and they didn't get their piss taken for saying so.
and you're coming off like a whiny bitch. get over it, dude. his obliviousness is funny. it's funny, and it's worth propagating to me.

the only reason i re-framed Rox's quote is because he reminds me of Paulk1. awwwww, you don't like opening threads where someone mentions his name once, because then you have to SIFT through one tiny post? i don't like opening threads to have a barrage of the same fucking orange hi-resolution iceybombs of projects that are fucking boring. it's like taylornutt posting the same pictures of his guitars all over, except even more annoying.

harassment? it's harmless hazing. he's made it clear that he doesn't give a shit what i think, so fine. that means i can continue to mock his ridiculous modd's and molestations of perfectly nice/new (and in some cases rare and sought after) guitars that i think are unnecessary. it's like, my opinion man. and until someone with any real weight (i.e. any mod but Pens*) tells me to stop, i'm probably going to drop his name a few more places that i deem suitable.

also, people are free to say they like B&B necks. just like i'm free to say that i don't. no one has gotten shit for saying they like them before or since PaulK1 invasion, so i don't get your point about that.

* if i can't call Paulk1 out on being a redundant whore, then i don't want to be called a retard for using windows.

nice one :) but as I have a white Jazzmaster I join those saying they don't want one. What for should I. Maybe I should snag one of these pickguards for my Jazzmaster someday.

seem to have landed in tha wrong thread ..

I'm just saying that it's as annoying to read threads with these posts. It's like reading the comments in any innocent news story on the internet that is completely unrelated to politics and seeing that 80% of them are either blaming democrats or republicans for what happened in the story.

How are these posts justified? It's one thing to call someone out for dodgy behavior when they're actually doing it (which happened, and still does), but what are those posts going to do? Just make it difficult to read a conversation about ANY GUITAR without reading commentary on how Paulk1 thinks all guitars should have inlays and binding and how queer that is? It just comes across as immature and spammy.

The dude sorted his wonky posts. If he was breaking rules about advertising his business let the Mods handle it. It's like you seriously think the forum would be a better place without him posting here. I actually think his DIY project photos are pretty informative and interesting, it sure as hell contributes a lot more than bitching about what a dick he is.

His obliviousness and social ineptness are funny, OK?

But the fact that he hacked up a Vista Jagmaster to make a B&B Jazzmaster is basically criminal.

A dream guitar like that should be respected for what it is.

I did exactly this and asked the mods what's up with this thread and was labeled a hater. I said nothing negative about him or his work by the way. I think it very obviously belongs in the whorehouse at this point.

FWIW, I didn't think your post at the time came across as hating at all, thought you were actually defending him.

He's a fucking weird case, PaulK1: usually I'd welcome a lengthy, detailed technical project thread, but they're all almost identical, weirdly commentated, and with far too many pictures. And the self-aggrandisement is jaw-dropping. I just don't go into his threads now. Which is OK short term, but cramps my style a bit: I know a fair bit about Jazzmasters, but if there's a thread that he's in, I'm out of there.

He is strongly meme-worthy though.

eh, sorry dude. it's nothing like that. oh wait, now it is.
Nick wrote:The dude sorted his wonky posts.
no, he didn't. he straightened out his picture catastrophes. he still posts entire paragraphs consisting of run-on sentences, using punctuation only in the wrong places - ABOUT THE SAME THINGS. EXACTLY. it's like he just retypes previous posts, although always slightly varied, yet still containing the same blah blah blah cockstroking shite. it's so bizarre, because he acts like he only has time to build the world's greatest guitars, but that cur or whoever can't post a picture of xzibit smiling in the corner of one of his pictures because that would take too much time.
Nick wrote:If he was breaking rules about advertising his business let the Mods handle it.
i dgaf about that, hence my never mentioning.

I just think there's no need to remove him, but there's no need to act like he isn't really odd either.

Personally, I really like the Blacktop Jazzmaster I've played. It feels great and is fairly well built for a decent price. I'm not sure I'd keep the humbucker as is... the Filtertron suggestion earlier is a GREAT idea, imo! I would also want to mod it to include *something* in the Rhythm circuit area... an on-board effect seems like a good idea, and I'm someone who generally likes the Rhythm circuit in my Jag.

However, if you want a classic Jazzmaster, I'd probably go for something else, likely a CIJ/MIJ, or, if I could get a really good deal, an AVRI.

I'd been hoping for someone with experience of installing neck binding and blocks joining the forum for ages. Then Paulk comes along and I'm like "cool". Then I'm like "ah, maybe not". He's just too... loose. He's kind of like Aug but not as cogent. Which is probably the oddest thing I've ever said.

I can really recommend the Classic Player Series!

I have the CP Jazzmaster and orderd today a CP Jaguar....

Otherwise, beeing on a budget i would go for the Squier J Mascis...

benecol wrote:I reckon you'd get a secondhand CIJ/MIJ Jazzmaster for not much more than Squier Mascis if you kept your eyes peeled and were patient. You'd need to swap out the pickups eventually, but other than that, you'd have exactly the spec you want.
Thanks Tim, definitely going with this. If i'm getting a dream guitar i want to keep forever, i might as well do it right. Gonna troll ebay whenever i start raising some fundz.
