What have they been putting in the kool aid at fender? Some great ideas and some shitty ones. Definitely not what people were expecting I guess. I really like the idea of all 4 of these amps especially the excelsior

Different is good, even if everything is not awesome.

The Excelsior looks pretty boss, ditto the Greta, I'm just having trouble believing that price.

I really dig the Greta. And the Super Bassman.

Greta is slang for vagina in portuguese, so this is a funny thread for me...

810 Neo cab? So it's only 105 pounds instead of 140 pounds? Silly bassists.***
The Excelsior and Greta are both amazingly awesome looking, and because they look good, they will definitely sound good.
*** I like bassists. I merely dislike bassists who think they need an 810 cab.

A fair if sarcastic point...about the amps, I mean. I'm staying out of the bassist thing.

It being 2012, I would hope that most people who would hang out here don't load up their 810s in their 810 flight cases every night.

(personally I'd go for a 1x15 and a 4X10 combo if I needed the extra firepower)

I hate 8x10s
Too loud, clanky, too loud

I think they actually sound pretty good, although the lows are not very impressive, they have a lot of warmth I'd say.
It's the assholes who take their 8x10s everywhere that turn them shits up too loud and make them sound like shit.
The thing is, I think they're pretty cool. I used to be in a practice space where a dude had parked his 2x15 Ampeg cabinet. It was fun to plug various things into it for fun, even a 5 watt guitar amp can sound massive through that thing. These cabinets are nice to have because they're silly and fun and they sound great. Just please don't lug them around is all I say. It's like carrying around a full stack everywhere when you're not Dinosaur Jr., except that it's a lot dumber because stacks can actually fit in cars smaller than a van.

115+210 is more than ample in most cases (as a bassist).

That said, one of my favorite local bands is a duo of bass and drums; until he sold it to move out west, the bassist played through a 60s SVT and 810... They were fucking loud, but sounded incredible.
Here they are clipping the shit out of a camera mic doing a cover of Part-Time Lover

Literally everyone of these products in this thread is like someone doing a Slam Dunk AND scoring a Home Run simultaneously.
Fucking hell. Amazing.

810's are indeed massive and unnecessary. My Mesa Powerhouse 1000 has 410's and a 15 in one cab and it is smaller than a normal ampeg 610, and it sounds incredible and is actually fairly easy to move around. I tried out for one band when I first moved to atlanta and they told me that if they decided I was a fit and wanted to join the band that I had to buy an Ampeg 810, I told them that was unnecessary and ridiculous and they told me that it was what they needed. The douchebag telling me this played through one of those shitty marshall hybrid heads and an avt cab, clearly didn't know what the fuck he was talking about. That plus the fact that they thought it was a good idea to audition a drummer at the same time as me and they weren't able to play their own damn songs the same twice in a row led to me not returning their calls after they called me the next day to tell me they wanted me in the band. It was kinda awkward when my current band got booked on a show with them this summer though!
